I don't think anyone could argue that, I think he has tho year and next year to show consistent improvement, I'm using the basketball philosophy but if u don't show u have or can take the next step in 4 years then you are who you are
My honest opinion is if he doesn't get his act together he will be gone this year

We have about 15 list cloggers/people who may retire that will go ahead of him haha

Yep.

Coach says last night he is a "bloody important player".

Gone at the end of 2015 for sure.
You believe that buddy , he has played 2 games into his 3rd year and he was gifted those games as it was planned early in the year he would debut then

Gifted? Lol. He had 4-5 good VFL games in a row to earn those two games.

Let's forget his first two pre-seasons he did **** all because of wrist surgery.

You don't say someone is "a bloody important player" if you plan on delisting them anytime soon

I'm saying his attitude is a problem and if he doesn't change it he will go , have heard from a person inside the Saints
In my head I feel his attitude is fine, I beleive he thinks he works hard and is trying his best in the contest, his career to this stage IMO isn't due to his laziness or lack of pulling his finger out, everyone just doesn't know how good he is or will be

I think Richo's comments are not necessarily the explicit, transparent truth. I think he was publicly bigging up a player who needs confidence at a time he knew he was going to get dropped from VFL.
He might still be in danger at season's end if attitude is the issue. Yes talls take time, and he was one in particular we were told was a project, but if his attitude is the problem then there's no point in wasting time and resource, especially if you can get a pick for him.

last week spencer white forced back to the development league due to numbers

this week saunders (even though he was said to have a serviceable game in the seniors last week) and pierce

we cant afford to have saunders playing development league football. likewise pierce. each into what is it, their 3rd year in the AFL system

how is that beneficial to their development?

What's your point?

Everyone knows this, including the club. However rules are rules and at the moment we have no other choice.

Hence we want our own VFL club by 2017.

read the rest of the thread, no everyone shares this same view. we should be raising awareness of what is happening, not sweeping it under the carpet/not discussing it

maybe if more people know about it, maybe pressure can be applied at selection time to increase the amount of saints players allowed in the side

i mean its a little bit of control when saunders is now playing dev squad off the back of a half decent game, isnt it

he had what 17 disposals in a quarter (cant re-call) then went quiet a bit?

I've read the thread and think based on my post you should understand where i sit.

Saunders/White whoever playing VFL seconds is no doubt sub optimal, however think people on here get a bit too worried about a player missing one game.

Saunders playing VFL dev league this week isn't going to be the determining factor on whether he makes it or not.

you just contradicted yourself. in your first post you said i shouldnt be raising the issue because everyone agrees with me but then you went onto say you have a different opinion and it doesnt matter in the long term

i suspect you dont want anything raised that criticises sandringham

i see 0 benefit in sending saunders or pierce back to the development league. i'd love to hear the spin on that one!!!!

thats all that counts when the draft and development of the next crop of players is our primary focus. we shouldnt be sacrificing anything in that regard

we should have just taken the dolphins offer up of hosting some of our players. split the alignment. let sandy pay for their own senior coach etc.
Is that the reason Nth Melb had an alignment with 2 clubs???
Or was it just a cost cutting thing???
Its not ideal either i suppose , but at least you dont have probs with the cap i guess.

couldnt be a cost cutting thing, actually then have to review two games etc.

i'd say it was more about making sure the players all played senior VFL football

I had family ties with Sandy yrs ago. With a couple of my relatives playing there when i was very young. My family actually supported Sandy before we jumped on StKilda .
So i guess ive still got a bit of a soft spot for them.
But i think the whole alignment thing is a bit flawed. It has some good points i guess. But i cant wait till we have our own side in 2017.
Despite the initial cost i think the Dogs have shown if you do it properly and have your training Ground set up comfortable for a VFL crowd , then you can raise a bit of money on the day with quite a few thousand peeps turning up to home games.
Im not saying its gonna be a cash cow but if its done properly it can cover a lot of the cost to run a VFL team.

i have allegiances to none of the VFL/VFA teams. i initially was in favour of the sandringham alignment, even wanted to see the club grow it and really promote sandringham, but its clear as day that it just doesnt work. sandringham are not a club that will ever embrace an alignment

as people have described them theyre too "proud"
