No Ryan Lonie today. Are we to assume he was held out rather than one of our young boys with a short break to ANZAC Day?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Lonie named or as an emergency this week.

Can anybody give an update on how Tim Walsh is playing this year for the Pies?

I would mind betting the Pies would be looking at placing him on the rookie list next year, bearing in mind he was a N0 4 draft pick a couple of years ago, when he was at the Dogs he just couldnt get on the oval because of injuries. He was at the Dogs for about 4 /5 years and played one senior game.

I doubt it. We have enough tall timber as it is.

I know a Carolin Carolin, there's a Neville Neville and I know an Adam Adams.
saba saba and one that always makes me laugh Wayne Kerr unlucky bastard

There was a guy I went to school with called Martin Martyn!

Used to play football against a guy, I swear this is true, called Steele Pullen!

Remember the Aboriginal fella called Burnham Burnham!

And a fella made his debut for my local club last week called Ben Bennett!

McCarthy may be in and under and Stanley could be (but his ability to actually clear needs to be improved) but that is the #1 area we need to improve in, forget ruckmen, forget defenders, we need inside mids.

That Jabso, is utter nonsense if you'll pardon me. Stanley has the cleanest, quickest clearance of any of the younger players and most of the oldies. It's been an outstanding feature of his game all last season and this. He's got lightning hands and his delivery by foot is outstanding - the critics of last week notwithstanding. It's like the myth of his inability to kick which still gets a run on this board, when in fact he can kick long and straight off either foot.

Yep people do talk crap Pipeline. Obviously not been watching the VFL with him in the centre. Oh but the balls come out of the centre from him at lightning pace straight to one of ours so I guess if you blink you would miss it.
He is great at the hard in and under gets. But we don't need him in the centre obviously according to most people he is crap like Toovs reidy etc....
They are all waiting for the miracle to appear. !!!FFS

I'm a fan of Stanley and I think he could make it. His stint in the middle against Williamstown a couple of weeks ago saw him gather numerous excellent clearances. I really want to see him set a few consectutive games in the ones so that he can pick up the speed and rythm.

that is absolute crap in the best dyas didnt seem to do all that much yesterday and nicholls wasnt named in the best?? he dominated the second half his kicking was absolutely magnificent except for one...and iles was bloody brilliant all day he played really well barely sore him get tackled he is just so evasive. I thought that Wellingham would have been in the best he ran hard all day and picked up 20 od touches he is pretty classy from what i saw yesterday.

The best players named in the VFL seem to be an absolute lottery. I suspect we name our own and that they play games with who are named.

Can you tell me what you thought of McCarthy's game? What position did he play and how did he look?

The one thing we DON'T need is another tall forward. Cloke and Rocca, with help from the like of Wood, Fraser and Brown is more than enough. Bryan coming in will just make the team slower and more static than it already is. Burns is the player at the moment we need back until some of our mids in the VFL can show enough to get selected.

Bryan has already blown it with his shocking displays last season. There's no need to put him in the first team to do further damage.

Are you joking?

Mate we got rid of the real dud. And Bryan WILL get games this year. Get over it!

I agree with this. On a few occasions I've looked at the bests named in the papers and scratched my head. Then again, it's probably not surprising: look at how posters can watch exactly the same game and have diametrically opposed views of who played well.

Shannon Cox was reported on a Level 4(Highest level) rough conduct during the 1st quarter after he deliberately pushed Alex Lee into the fence on the wing.

Dolphin Alex Lee may have sustained a season ending knee injury over the incidient.

A Level 4 charge if found guilty can carry a 4 to 8 week suspension.

I saw it and it didnt look good.

Will definitely go.

yes and as a midfielder not as a HBF or HFF , put him in the guts Mick.

It hasn't been flash, but Lonie was named in the emergencies a couple of weeks ago and no-one could understand it.

Sharrod Wellingham evades a Frankston player during the round four VFL clash at Frankston

Collingwood’s VFL team returned to the winners’ list on Sunday, and improved its season record to two wins and two losses after four rounds, with a solid 17–point victory over Frankston at Frankston Oval.

The Magpies set up their triumph with a 10-goal-to-five first half, and led by 31 points at the main break, before eventually triumphing 15.10 (100) to 12.11 (83) in front of a good crowd in perfect conditions.

Collingwood led by as many as 43 points during a dominant second-term performance, easily the side's best stanza for the match, with intense pressure around the contest and swift movement into the forward line features of the Magpies' play. Chris Dawes, Brent Macaffer and Chris Bryan managed to finish the good work up field with two majors each for the half.

However, the Dolphins would go on to kick the next six goals of the match in a dramatic turnaround, including two late in the second quarter, and at the 20-minute mark of the third term the Magpies were without a second-half goal and their lead had been whittled to just 10 points.

The Magpies were able to steady when Macaffer kicked his third with a fine set shot from a tight angle at the 22-minute mark, and the margin at the final change was 15 points.

Having conceded 17 goals in its previous two final terms, the pressure was on Collingwood to run out the match and claim its second win of the season, and a brilliant Liam Jurrah snap from a tight angle at distance was the perfect way to kick off the final quarter in the opening minutes.

Former Collingwood senior-listed player Daniel Nicholls, who put in a strong midfield showing and finished with 19 possessions, delivered a perfect pass to Daniel Frost at the seven-minute mark, and Frost did the rest from long range, his accurate set shot extending the visitors’ lead to 26 points.

The Dolphins refused to buckle and booted the next two goals to get back within 13 points, but this was as close as they would come, with Jurrah nailing his second major for the quarter and third for the match with a lovely kick from a tight angle at the 20-minute mark, before Sam Iles (32 disposals) capped an excellent personal performance and ensured victory with a great long running goal (his second major) five minutes later.

In his second season on the Collingwood rookie list, Macaffer played possibly his best game at VFL level, his efforts in leading strongly and presenting across half forward throughout the match were exceptional, and he was rewarded with 20 disposals and 15 marks to go with his three majors.

Ruckman Bryan put his case forward for a senior recall with a fine performance, particularly in the first half when he was a catalyst for many Collingwood forward thrusts, his running goal from long range in the first term really got the Magpies going.

In the midfield, Iles had plenty of support from Ryan Cook (33 possessions) and Paul Licuria (32 touches), who were all rewarded for hard running and created plenty of drive from stoppages. Licuria's clearance work was particularly good.

The versatile VFL-listed Frost was a great contributor and spent time at both ends of the ground, finishing with 21 touches and 10 marks, while John Anthony continued his good form in defence and was a reliable contributor, while rookie-listed Luke Casey-Leigh provided run and carry from the back half and appears to be improving with every match.

Young Irishman Kevin Dyas showed strength and poise across half back, and played a wonderful final quarter when Frankston was pressing, while Shannon Cox, who was captain on the day and will lead the side for the next two matches, displayed clean hands and creativity across half back and finished with 15 kicks, nine handballs and nine marks in a strong showing.

Nigel Carmody showed excellent leadership and composure whether up forward or working through the midfield and gathered 24 possessions, while Sharrod Wellingham, Chris Egan and John McCarthy all made solid contributions in what was a well deserved and encouraging win.
