Massive LOL at the gay model pose on the dude in the background.

Jeeeezus Hawkins is a monster. Look at the size of his calves compared to the defender on in the 4th pic, eek. Exciting, in a purely football-related sense of course...

The Opposition ruckman The skinniest bloke Ive ever seen in footy boots sort of explains why we where dominant in the ruck

What a rake. Just as well it wasn't windy. He'd get blown into the Barwon otherwise. :p

Blake is set to never be more than the #2 ruckman at our club even when Ottens retires. Love hearing Mumford plays well in every damn game!

Hawkins has done exactly what he needed to do. Next week a good home crowd will happily quiet to a whisper when he has a set shot :)

Any word on that Essendon guy who got 32 + 7 goals or whatever? Who did he towel up?

Thanks for the reports and photos guys!

He's names David Zaharakis. Was our number 23 pick last draft. Played on ball for most of the game the played HFF whilst resting.

From what I have seen this year and based on the reports of this game, it seems like Mumford has moved ahead of West in terms of who would be the next selected ruckman.

Can anyone give us an impartial view on the Daniher - Hawkins battle.

There's a lot of reports from Essendon folk that Daniher was great but then we have you guys saying Hawkins was good kickiing 5.. 3 in the last I believe.

Any thoughts on the bombers kids - Jetta, Zaharakis, Myers?

Cheers.

Very hard at those games because you have no knowledge of opposition unless its from Afl exposure.
Jetta wa prominant in the midfield and after half time Djerrkirra started to tag him Nullified him a bit but still very good game

Didnt notice Myers

I watched Daniher on Hawkins in the 3 when they left them 1 on 1 in forward 50. The 3q was Bombers best so the ball only came down about half a dozen time. Daniher won most of the battles in that quarter I think Hawkins kicked 1 goal

So who won the battle then Tiredcat in the overall scheme of things?
Or did you only watch the 3rd qtr.

Not sure if he was on him all day and only became aware who it was in 3rd quarter because a Bendigo fan yelled his name after he won a contest.
Hawkins had 1 good quarter the last and that was down the other end of ground (Barwon River end).

If he was on him all day I would say Hawkins was beaten taking into consideration the ruck dominance and amount of forward thrusts Geelong enjoyed.

Thanks for that.

They might have a few battles over the next 10 years in the AFL they way things look.

Surely Hawkins will be given an extended run in the seniors now.

Yep! Even an Essendon supporter can see it.

I am with a previous poster who questioned the acquisition of Podsiadly..I just cant understand why u would recruit an ageing full forward (i know he is a good player) when we have 3 young KP forwards in Hawkins, Brown and Simpson to try and develop. Granted, they may be expecting Hawkins not to play much VFL this season as we all dont, but still seems a strange decision.

If we had Posiadly, Simpson, Brown and Hawkins all inside 50 it's any wonder Hawkins struggled in the first half.

I expect Pods will spend at least 50% of game time in defense. Pretty handy bloke to throw forward when we need a few goals.

Maybe Pods could have some one on one practice with Harry.
Against Werribee in Harrys first year Pods absolutly tore Harry a new one by manhandling him very similar to Franklin and Rough head
Maybe he could now give him some tips

Geelong lack natural forwards bar Johnson and possibly Gamble, so recruiting Podsiadly means the glut of young forwards in the reserves can learn from him. I'd suggest his knowledge of how to play forward would be invaluable for Hawkins in particular, who has all the physical tools but perhaps lacks nous due to inexperience. Hawkins needs to learn how to get into positions to kick easy goals as well as the ones from bullocking play and big marks.
