Glad you're not on the selection committee. Think McCarthy can take 7 marks at CHF? Could he kick any better than H? Waste of time. H is the future and is improving week by week. McCarthy will be delisted at the end of the year.

Won't happen.

On ezbian's report:

In: Nathan Ablett, Blake, Callan
Out: Kingsley, Hunt, Koula

I only got to the match at the start of the Third Quarter and I didn't see Nath do much from then on. Did all the stuff he do - goals, assists and marks all happen in the first half or something?
From the game, I was really pleased with Varcoe's tackles - they do stick and he is dangerous up forward if he gets a knock-on from one of the other talls.
Another player I was pleased with was Stephen Owen. It was his first game and he took a really strong mark and a great goal.
Also Gamble, in the last quarter he tackled his player, got the ball out, ran off and kicked a goal. Not just that, but I do think he can play a bit.
We all know Kingslet's out, but which player will come in for him? I was watching the three big boys - Nath, Lonergan and McCarthy, but none of them really are able to replace Kingsley.

Oh dear God, if H lead any wider I would've had to move out of his way, has dropped of from last year and atm should be spedning as much time in the Brownlow Stand as i do.

None of those marks were in a good position or telling.

At a wild guess, is your surname Playfair?

Playfair has been tried and valued for 2 seasons now, surely even you could agree that McCarthy deserves a couple of weeks in the AFL team to prove himself. If he does not, he is delsited, Hank stays. Simple.

Playfair was far from productive on the Saturday. Were you even at the game? If you were not, please refrain from commenting.

Sure, he had 7 marks, but how many were contested? how many were in the forward 50? What did he do with the possies he received via his game changing marks?. I think you will find (as was stated on Triple M) he had one effective stat. He could not even hit a target via the handballs and had 2 kicks. When he did get the pill, he either handballed off to a player under pressure or missed the target.

Please whipe your mouth, you are talking :D:D:D:D:D. McCarthy may not be the answer but he deserves a chance. He will not do any worse!

Look, our season isn't looking good, but trying everyone at once will get us nowhere.

Playfair must play ahead of McCarthy...

I'm not suggesting huge changes.

My guess is the one of Harley or Riccardi will not come up.

In: McCarthy, N.Ablett, Harley/Riccardi

Out: Kingsley, Playfair, Koula

Playfair has had too many chances. Give others a go.

Bollocks. Watch the replay - there were several in the corridor. The wide ones were leading to players kicking it from a wide position.

Nah, I'm no relative of Hanks. Just someone who appreciates the difficulties of playing CHF and someone who appreciates when someone has done alright at it.

Yes, I was at the game. So according to you, there's my pass to keep commenting.

There aren't any stats on contested marks or effective stats readily available to me at this stage. I'll get back to you when they are if you'd like.

We need a target across CHF. Hank provides it. He can't be in two places at once as much as I'd like him to be. If he wasn't there to provide a target leading outside 50m, god knows we'd be in trouble (just like we've been every single time H has been out of the team in the past 2 seasons).

I've got no problem with McCarthy being given a go. But it's nonsense to suggest that H should make way.

Agreed...if Henry is dropped for McCarthy, I will lose alot of faith in the match committee.

A few things Id like to see us follow from now on

NO ONE PLAYS ON REPUTATION
NO ONE PLAYS WITHOUT FITNESS or FORM
NO ONE PLAYS WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

If anyone is less than 90% to 100% right now, they should be removed from the side.We have damaged players reputations this year buy asking them to come in under prepared and without match hardness. We should now focus, with extreme care on what our most dire need is. Are the guys we have going to develop or not?Judgement time has come ,our first pick next year will be the first one for years not corrupted by other priority picks,if we have a choice what play do we choose. Tall, Inside mid,Ute,Speed? We can not afford to mess this up.

As far as H go's .On Repuation he is probably recognised as our best option at CHF. But is he fit? Is he in form? Im not sure but one thing for sure, our on-ballers didnt trust anyone to take a contested mark Sat.H at his best is worth his position, hes one of the few guys who can draw more than one defender when he goes for a pack mark. H is under far less pressure to hold his place on our list than other talls, If he is not fit or he lacks the touch to play such a role at the moment then maybe its time for him to get form and fitness elsewhere and give somebody else whos head is on the block a chance.

I think these are valid points Turbo, and they probably just emphasise my point. Playfair missed 4 games with a shoulder injury and has now had 4 games back from that injury. He's been improving gradually during those 4 games. If you can't see that you're watching a different game. That's why it'd be ridiculous to drop him now.

Nath's best quarter was certainly the 2nd. He either kicked or was involved in 4 goals in a row. His 3rd and 4th were definetely quieter but he still had an impact, and chased tackled and presented.
