Query VFL Year Books

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has a spare 1986 edition of the VFL Year Book. They were published before the start of the season in the 1970-80s, with the last one appearing in 1991. I'm after the 1986 edition to complete my collection. I also have spare issues of 1977, 1978-79, 1983, 1987 and 1988 if you would like to trade.

i cant help you myself, but suggest you check ebay on a regular basis, they seem to turn up quite often on there.

Are you referring to the publication titled "VFL Year Book 1987"? This is the edition printed after the 1986 season and features Dipper and Tuck on the cover holding the premiership cup from 1986.

I had that one, plus the VFL yearbook that covered 1977-78. Both gone, but I still have all the yearbooks covering 1988-2000. I even wrote the publishers a letter in the mid 90's asking them not to take their photos from videotapes and put some colour in (because the presentation of a couple of those books was f###ing awful), and lo and behold the next one, 1996, was great...! There was no 1998 book, and I had to fill in that gap with a Club 10 book...didn't think much of that one, but if the Hawks had had a better year then maybe I would have been a bit happier with it...

I also have a very rare one - a mag called Mark! existed around the time of expansion, presumably trying to compete with Inside Footy, and they released a yearbook mag with Brereton and Rhys-Jones on the cover in 1987. I like it because it's also got a year review page on each of the leagues from all states...

Aside from that, I've bought every GF record since 1986, with a couple of pickups before that from the 1960's...

In case you are not aware, there was no yearbook titled "VFL Year Book 1986". For whatever reason the VFL went straight from the 1985 edition to the 1987 edition. As you can tell by looking at your collection, it occurred throughout the series of books that a year would be skipped. So if you have the book with Tucky and Dipper on the front cover you most likely have the complete collection.
