Thanks for the link Winty.

only caught the last quarter, but looked like the class of our more experienced (AFL) players was the difference? And as noted in the after match interview, Hawks were dominant last season, andhad bigger bodies in this game.

Couple of locals made the 2019 AFLW Under 18 AA Team - be interesting to see if either of them join our VFLW team over the remainder of the season & even better if we select them in the upcoming AFLW draft.

Should also say a special congrats to Lucy McEvoy on being named captain of the team - please nominate Geelong region 🤞

Score was 9.8.62 to 3.1.19 according to the VFL app.

Goals: Caris 2, Clarke 2, Van De Heuvel 2, Woollett Benham Maguire.

Could've been a bigger win if Danielle Orr had her kicking boots on - she finished with 0.4. for the day.

In what shapes as a crucial game with 3 rounds to go before the finals, the 6th placed Geelong (6-5, 101.1%) host the 5th placed Melbourne Uni (6-6, 129.1% at Deakin Uni on Saturday. The two sides met in Round 1 this season with Melbourne Uni running out 44 point winners, 12.5.77 to 5.3.33. Geelong have been in good recent form though, with 5 wins from their last 6 games, while Melbourne Uni are 3-3 over their last 6 games. With Geelong playing the bottom two sides Williamstown and Carlton in the last two weeks with Melbourne Uni having the bye before playing 8th placed NT Thunder, a Geelong win on the weekend could see us all but cement a spot in the finals as we try to go one better from last season.

Geelong's team for the match:

B: 34. M. Brown, 44. R. Goring, 49. E. Ramsay
HB: 3. A. McDonald, 18. M. Hickey, 28. D. Taylor
C: 9. T. Love, 12. R. Garing, 27. S. Van De Heuvel
HF: 43. M. Maguire, 2. D. Orr, 11. J. Woollett
F: 42. B. Beckley, 17. G. Clarke, 36. L. McEvoy
R: 8. K. Darby, 30. R. Cranston, 21. R. Webster
Int: 7. R. Benham, 45. M. Keryk, 20. R. Pearce, 16. O. Purcell
Emg: 4. C. Blakeway, 1. R. Caris, 23. H. Rowe, 13. L. Taylor
23P: 31. P. Sheppard

In: C. Blakeway, O. Purcell, L. Taylor, K. Darby, H. Rowe, M. Hickey,
L. McEvoy, M. Brown, P. Sheppard, D. Taylor
Out: G. Rankin, A. Chapman, E. Vella, J. Ivey, L. Lesosky-Hay, Z. Inei

Good to see both Lucy McEvoy and Mollie Brown named to play this week, hopefully so they can get used to playing alongside AFLW teammates Goring, Hickey, Garing, Orr, Darby and Cranston, amongst others.
