Great last quarter by the girls today. Both teams looked pretty rusty before that. Sarah D’Arcy was great as a forward. Need to get over the line against Hawks and Geelong to slip up against ladder leading Pies for us to snatch 2nd spot and a double chance.

Game was played in our forward half of the ground for a fair chunk of game time and the player stats reflect this. Thought we didn't really make the most of our opportunities until the last quarter.

Probably should have come away with a 10 goal win TBO.

Whilst not on our list anymore Alice Edmonds had a really good game. She is a real handful at this level. One thing noticeable is that she will always give 100%

Final match of the VFLW home and away season.

Port need to register a win and keep fingers crossed that the Pies will be too good for Geelong to jump them on the ladder and secure the double chance. Box Hill Hawks wins this season have only come from games against Williamstown and Darebin so its hard to see how they can get on top in their last game of the season. Port should have the Hawks measure and with some pretty good Richmond AFLW talent on show, they should come away with a good win.

how come molan isn't playing?

also is it going to be streamed anywhere?

I guess it’s a juggling act at this time of the year. I’m not exactly sure number of games needed to qualify for finals but Sophie has played 3 while McKenzie and D’Arcy have only played 1.

Also have to remember this is Port Melbourne team and you have to play the Port girls who are deserving and have played a big part in getting the team to where it is.

I haven’t seen it advertised anywhere that there is any coverage. Will have to wait and see. Sometimes a camera is set up and streamed to YouTube without any commentary. It’s definitely not on official coverage list.

This is the final ladder.
Elimination final v Saints which is harder than ladder positions would indicate then a win will put us in a Prelim against top team Pies.

Very costly last round loss.

Wow outside of Jacques they didn't fire a shot. Wonder if they were on the P155 the night before like the boys?

Meg Hutchins last game. Should have known. We don’t do oppo milestone games well. Certainty to lose.

Kane Cornes farewell game was a very sweeeeeeet exception.

Port Melbourne VFLW fell to Hawthorn by eight points on Sunday in the final game of the home and away season, going down 8.4 (52) to 6.8 (44) at Box Hill City Oval.

The Borough bust out of the blocks with three goals in the first term, before extending their lead to 15 points by the main break.
The Hawks, however, made inroads in the third term and snatched a three-point lead at the final change.

Inaccuracy cost in the Borough in the last quarter and despite their late surge, which included a goal in the dying minutes by Emily Harley, they couldn't clinch the win.

Kodi Jacques led the way for Port Melbourne, collecting 16 disposals and laying seven tackles.

The result meant Port Melbourne remained in third place on the ladder at the conclusion of the VFLW home and away season.
The Borough will now face the Southern Saints in an elimination final this weekend, with the date and time yet to be confirmed.

Elimination Final v Southern Saints

DAY:
Sunday, 4th July 2021.

TIME: 2:00pm

VENUE: ETU Stadium, Williamstown Road PORT MELBOURNE

AFLW Talent

Just two current Tigers are named in the team for this weeks final, Kodi Jacques and Ellie McKenzie. Former Richmond listed players Cleo Saxon-Jones, Emily Harley and Alice Edmonds are also playing.

Southern Saints have Tyanna Smith, Alice Burke and Jessica Matin who are on St Kilda's list

Both teams putting faith in their VFLW talent. It's actually quite good to see strong representation from the girls at the lower level with the AFLW draft not far away and you just never know. Port's Jaide Anthony, Amanda Ling and Sophie Locke are tipped to have their names read out on draft night. Who else might join them on the back of a big 2021 VFLW finals series?

The headache.
Tara Bohanna has been a headache for defenders all season. Tall and strong she knows how to end up with the footy. She marks and tackles and can pinch hit in the ruck. Most importantly she hits the scoreboard kicking 17.14 this season. She can make something out of nothing. With the weather being cold and wet and a likely low scoring affair, Port simply cannot afford to let Tara of the leash or the game could quickly slip away.

Here's hoping...
Amanda Ling can give us a repeat performance of her NAB League Girls Grand Final where she helped the Oakleigh Chargers get over the line in a best on ground performance. Incidentally the Chargers play in the Port guernsey as well.

The result.
Nope. I'm piking on this one. It didn't go well for me last time so I'm steering clear of any prediction. Despite ladder positions, you'd have to say saints are probably slight favorites coming into the game in slightly better form.

I'll just say I'm hoping for a great game, no injuries....and a Port win.
