Travis Cloke is our new VFLW senior coach and a specialist coach with the men's program.

Essendon Football Club is proud to announce former Collingwood Premiership star Travis Cloke as its VFLW senior coach for the 2023 season.

The 35-year-old will also join the Bombers’ AFL men’s program as a specialist coach.

Cloke played 256 games across Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs, retiring in 2017 with a Premiership, two All Australian selections, a Copeland Trophy and four Collingwood leading goal kicker awards.

Since retiring, Cloke has switched to coaching, starting as a VFL/next generation academy development coach at the Pies before taking on the head coach position at NAB League side Eastern Ranges.

Over the past two years, Cloke has led the under-17 and under-19 female and male Eastern Ranges programs.

Head of VFLW Georgia Harvey said the club was excited to welcome Cloke to the Bombers’ family.

“We are thrilled to have Travis on board as our VFLW senior coach,” Harvey said.

“He brings a wealth of experience as a player and as a coach, leading both female and male programs at the Eastern Ranges in the NAB League, demonstrating his ability to bring the best out of his players.

“We look forward to welcoming Travis into the club and working towards our 2023 VFLW season.”

Hopefully this goes a bit better than the last welcome thread

Why?

I have no view on him whatsoever, but he's been coaching since his playing retirement.
Struggles to string two words together, not unlike Dave Barham. Questionable intelligence through observations over the years. I could be wrong though, he could be the next Ron Barassi...

Is he still as dumb as he was 15 years ago? Does anyone remember him talking about his collection of $5 notes?
The Cloke family was not blessed with an overabundance of intelligence; but they did have some very fine football ability.
By all accounts Travis is a very nice bloke and you certainly don't need to be a Mensa candidate to coach football or sell a message. Good luck to him!

Yeah, I wish him all the best too.

Interview with channel 9;

Apparently the girls have been reminding him that they didn't cough up more than 20 points to any opponent all season in 2022 🤣 Half-jokingly suggested if they coughed up more than that under his leadership he might be out the door 😅

He's also taking care of forward craft as a development coach with the AFL team.
