There is a large grassfire travelling in a northerly direction from Kilmore-Lancefield Road towards Pyalong.
This grassfire is currently not yet under control. The fire has crossed the Kilmore Lancefield Road.

If the fire crosses the Northern Highway you may be impacted.
Don't wait, leaving now is the safest option - conditions may change and get worse very quickly. Emergency Services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.


Travel to;
- The Relief Centre at:
- Seymour Basketball Stadium - Chittick Park Pollard Street Seymour
- The home of family or friends that is away from the warning area.
- Nearest regional area - Seymour.

When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights; smoke will make it difficult to see.


The following Roads are Closed:

- Kilmore Lancefield Road

- Darraweit Road between Old Sydney Road Wallan and Darraweit Valley Track Wallan.

- Mt Ridley Road between the Hume Highway and Mickleham Road.

- Donnybrook Road between the Hume Highway and Mickleham Road

- Gums Gully Road between the Hume Highway and Old Sydney Road.

EMERGENCY WARNING FOR A BUSHFIRE BURNING UNDER SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

CFS advises that a serious bushfire is burning out of control at Bangor in the Southern Flinders Ranges near Beetaloo and Wirrabara near Mills Road, Young Road, Palmer Road, Beetaloo Valley Road, Gladstone - Beetaloo Road, Rucioch Road, Wurst Road, Hilpara Track, Kleinig Road, Lynches Road, Charcoal Road, Marner Road, Forest Road, Wirrabara Detour Roads and Possum Park Road .

The BANGOR fire is travelling in a southerly and easterly direction towards Beetaloo, Laura, Stone Hut and Wirrabara. There is a risk to lives and homes.

The uncontrolled fire is burning in Scrub.

Check and follow your bushfire survival plan. Take shelter when the fire arrives and protect yourself from the fires heat.

Only leave now if the path is clear to a safe place.

You should not enter this area as the roads may not be safe.


Well prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety.

Apparently the firefighter who was seriously injured was in one of the mildest of all the fires- the Fawkner/Reservoir grassfire along the Merri Creek.

That was only about a kilometre from my house. Got some pictures of the damage the next day- I'll post them up at some point.

The fire could impact Little Jack Creek Road, Yarram-Morwell Road north of Fairview Road, Summerfield Road, Turpins Road and River Road, any time between 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

The Seymour Relief Centre is Open and located at the Seymour Aquatic Centre (Basketball Stadium), Chittick Park, Pollard Street, Seymour.


Road closures include Northern Highway, Bolinda-Darraweit Road, Stockdale Road, Darraweit Road, Lancefield-Kilmore Road and Old Sydney Road. Please see VicRoads website for more up to date information.


Local Residents only will have access to the following roads with an authorised wrist band. Speed restrictions are in place on many roads within this area. Please observe all road signs.

This is a Watch and Act message issue by Country Fire Authority for Bylands, Chintin, Darraweit Guim, Glenaroua, Goldie, Goldie North, High Camp, Kilmore, Kilmore East, Moranding, Pyalong, Springfield, Tantaraboo, Wallan, Willowmavin with updated road access details.

While the immediate threat has passed, you need to stay informed as conditions may change suddenly.

The fire is still active and firefighters are on scene. Under southerly conditions the fire is not expected to impact on any townships, however the fire is still active and may change quickly.

Residents are advised to keep monitoring the situation, continue to check for updates and remain vigilant at all times.

People travelling in the fire affected area should exercise extreme caution as hazards such as smoke, fallen trees and powerlines, as well as emergency vehicles and changed road conditions may be experienced.

Assessments are being conducted on roads, powerlines, powerpoles, stock and trees for hazards and safety issues to the public. Members are advised that until these assesssments are completed the area is unsafe to the general public.

This fire is still burning actively in places and firefighters continue working to contain it.

Additional smoke may be visible due to crews backburning.
