Settle down, Pie eyed, we're making plans to get them out. Can't do it without making plans.

Meanwhile, this is the "secured" airport with a Globemaster taxiing before takeoff. Note the people standing on the main landing gear doors.

No need to link the video of the people falling when the gear was raised after takeoff.

Seriously?
Do you think that it's too much to expect a Government to have thought for 2 or 3 minutes before they abandon a country we have been fighting in for 20 years?
Morrison is now playing the idiot.
We wasted 20 years, billions of dollars and hundreds of lives to suck US utensil and win John Howard an election.
This Government are simpletons.

Yes Morrison, our forces wasted their time and lives for Liberal party whims.

Did you want to waste another 20 years over there for the same results we have seen? Another trillion dollars maybe. More Aussie and Allied troops dead? More civilians killed. Allies killed around 45,000 civillians in that time did you know. I suppose another 20 or 30 years, we couldve got that up to a few hundred thousand.

Morrison is just a bystander in this as is Australia. Not on him at all and your Liberal party comment is nonsense.
No.
We should never have been there in the first place, however you do not abandon those who assisted you while you were there to be slaughtered.
Morrison is a slug and a piece of s**t at best. In this he is a gutless opportunist piece of s**t.
Defend him all you like.
Go on say "they knew what they were getting into" I dare you.

Allies spent billions training the Afgan troops. All for nothing as they rolled over without a shot fired. No one couldve predicted that

Really? I thought it was pretty ******* obvious. They aren't fighting for their country. They aren't fighting for a way of life. They aren't fighting some foreign enemy. They've had 20 years of watching successive governments siphon massive amounts of cash for themselves while doing SFA, and once the occupying forces flew out and took their gravy train with them, it wouldn't take Nostradamus to predict the ruling class would piss off with them and the reprisals would begin.

The surrenders and handovers began a year ago.

Australia has no role to play in it, please don't put aus along the same level as USA and britain, aus is an irrelevant little island that ideally should have stayed out of all the world's affairs but it chose to take on china. Good work morrison.

I can assure you this as chinese myself that in the coming decade, china will obliterate australia, obliterate with a capital O. Wiill give you details in time.

We have been bleeding and dying along side our American brothers longer than your communist s**t show has existed. Don’t worry China has been told to pull its head in and pull it in quick.
You have no idea.

"Yeah, nah, too late, suck sh*t"

Peter Dutton has got blood on his hands, for months now deliberately preventing Afghanis who put their lives at risk helping Australians from coming to Australia.
Far from being ashamed, I reckon he'll be quite pleased with himself.

Who is getting slaughtered? Afgan troops are seen to be handing their weapons over to the Taliban and shaking hands with them
Yes. Yes I believe you.
There will be no recriminations.
Plenty of right wing stupidity in the West.
It's almost like a sport, posting bullshit to support Liberal dickheads.

News says:
Ashraf Ghani, the US-backed president of Afghanistan who fled before the Taliban, has re-emerged in the United Arab Emirates. In a Facebook video, he defended his actions and denied reports he took millions in cash with him.
Ghani fled Kabul over the weekend, and his whereabouts were unknown until the UAE confirmed on Wednesday it had welcomed the former president and his family “on humanitarian grounds.”
Multiple diplomats spoke of Ghani fleeing the country with suitcases of cash, even saying he left some behind at the Kabul airport. According to the Afghan ambassador to neighboring Tajikistan, quoted by the BBC, Ghani took $169 million with him.

Probably tucked it away in Cayman Island bank accounts months ago.

Shouldn't lol but... UK embassy guards escorted diplomats to the airport and helped them board an evac flight, and were told to go home and they weren't eligible to even apply for assistance (even though some of them had been front-line staffing the embassy for 10 years) because they were contractors and not employees. Go talk to your Canadian employer.

So typical.

Personally, I would rather go to Canada.

I doubt the Canucks would be interested, they're working for a company and not their government.

News:
The Biden administration is reportedly considering airstrikes in Afghanistan in hopes of vaporizing large amounts of US military hardware captured by the Taliban after the militant group took control of the country.
US officials told Reuters there is concern that military aircraft, vehicles and weapon stockpiles seized by the Taliban during the group’s offensive could be used against Afghan civilians, or find their way to terrorist organizations such as Islamic State or Al-Qaeda.
“Everything that hasn't been destroyed is the Taliban's now,” one source told the news agency on Thursday.
The US government is now reviewing its options, including the possibility of launching airstrikes to take out large hardware such as helicopters – although policymakers are reportedly concerned that the move would antagonize the Taliban at a time when the United States is rushing to evacuate personnel and citizens from the country.

Well, duhhh.

In 2010 Osama bin Laden wrote to one of his commanders urging them to be on the lookout for any lightning visits of Obama to Afghanistan in order that he be assassinated. However Biden was not to be touched, because Biden was totally unprepared to be President and would lead the US into a crisis. And that was 11 years ago when Biden could still string a few coherent sentences together.

I have no issue being unpopular with fools.

UK approached the Taliban and now have SAS operators going out into Kabul and escorting people back through the roadblocks to the airport. Same deal with French commandos.

Washington Examiner:
"The commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division has told the commander of the British special forces at the Kabul airport to cease operations beyond the airport perimeter.
Maj. Gen. Christopher Donahue has told his British Army counterpart, a high-ranking field-grade officer of the British army's 22nd Special Air Service Regiment, that British operations were embarrassing the United States military in the absence of similar U.S. military operations. I understand that the British officer firmly rejected the request."

In the meantime, US 82nd Airborne used three Chinooks to airlift 169 Americans from a hotel 200m from the airport because they couldn't get through by road.

Edit: UK have bowed to public pressure and are now saying they will bring out the embassy guards.

Fairly substantial news that a number of the SASR are not going to be charged or investigated further. Evidence in the report that came out will purportedly not hold up in a court. There's apparently a very high discharge rate happening at the moment from the unit, and some looking to sue. Not sure what to make of all that just yet.

I suspect it’s staffing numbers, so the Army will quietly look the other way, especially if they were only accessories to crimes. Like in any workplace, those at risk of getting sacked due misconduct suddenly find themselves getting let off scott free if their employer has a need for them.

And it seems it’s evidence that won’t hold up in court, not exoneration.

Of course the Murdoch press is hailing this as Vindication! Innocence! Heroes!

Pretty much just further proof that we’ll never end up prosecuting our own, especially not with the current government.
