Italic is a rookie contracted player. Bold is a CA contracted player

Did Rogers retire from us as well as international cricket? Sort of hope so regardless, time to develop a young opener.
Sad to see the for ever young run machine rogers not playing on this season, but after last weeks effort with Travis dean it looks like it was the right thing to do by rogers & a big year ahead for dean

Disappointing squad for the next match. I'd love it if we took a punt on a young player instead of the proven mediocreness of Finch or Christian.

Finch's 200 should cement him for the next 5 years
Ah! The "Shane Watson" effect in action.

I reckon throughout this season CA will lean on CV to pick him where possible.

Very pointed from Siddle after the game.

Didn't hold back on WA. If it is a true reflection then I don't mind it, a captain (albeit stand in) that's willing to call a spade a spade.

Chasing the win would have been stupid by WA.
Siddle's probably spent too much time with the national set up where apparently batting to save a game is a cardinal sin.

Well that explains the end of the match, the accusation was 4 days of essentially not having a crack.

Perhaps.

But as with shield finals a league system encourages that sort of behaviour

Victoria are the reigning shield finalists, WA due to injury were stuck with a pretty tame and pedestrian pace attack.

A win was always unlikely especially with how well Victoria bowled

Squad for SS match starting on Friday:
Bushrangers squad: Aaron Finch (capt), Aaron Ayre, Fawad Ahmed, Scott Boland, Dan Christian, Travis Dean, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Rob Quiney, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Tremain

Finch? Seriously, not Quiney or Handscomb, you know, experienced players who are definitively best XI?

Yeah can't see why they would pick the Australian captain over those guys...
Making a bloke who isn't even definitively best XI as captain is pretty stupid, but then again, it is CV.

Yet Quiney is?

Finchy averages 187 this season, he is pretty safe atm :)
Of course Quiney is. He's only played 22 out of the past 24 shield matches and been Victoria's leading run scorer in the previous 2 seasons.

Finch has played about 8 out of the last 24.
