I have been reading this forum for a while now and have had the need to write anything in reply to all the arguments that go on,but now iam just fed up and im writing down what i think.I totally agree with eastaugh about how pig-headed victorians are.It is a joke.I sadly have to say that i live in this pathetic state and iam disgusted at the way the victorians carry on.Like no good, smart asses!Iam glad to say though, that iam moving from this shitty state next month, due to the appaling people in it.The worst thing about leaving this rotten state though,is that i wont get to see my faviourite team:THE BOMBERS!!! very often. They are the best team that shitty victoria could have ever produced. And i know for a fact that the essendon guys(even though living in victoria)have not got the typical victorian attitude, which has given this state such a bad name.

I hardly think 'we' Victorians are going to miss you. My guess is that you are going to SA or WA where they have a lot of people who spew the same vitriolic garbage as you.

One less bomber supporter is a bonus. One less idiot bomber supporter is a huge bonus.

Our gain is their loss.

Feel free - both of you.

No way you were born in Victoria. Reckon you were adopted out of another state and your instincts are calling you back home. No genuine Vic would carry on like that, let alone an Essendon supporter.

Do yourself a favour and drop Essendon as your team, adopt West Adelaide as your side...they wear Essendon jumpers. No way I want to be associated with a fellow bomber supporter who is ashamed of her supposed home state. Your a disgrace girl!

And don't you dare generalise that Essendon players don't giva shit about their home state. LLoyd has openly admitted what it means to represent his state and was sensational in a game over in footy park a couple of years back. Mercuri also has performed very well.

Be gone with you, our gain, another state's loss.

i couldnt imagine living anywhere else other than melbourne, apart from the footy its the greatest place to live
victoria has the best beaches (although every state will say they have the best and have fair arguments)
best night clubs, pubs, bars, casino
best sports stadium (MCG)
etc, etc

I'm sorry! Melbourne and beaches cant even go in the same sentence.

You gotta love Melbourne, the beautiful cold, wet winter... seriously I have to admit I love Melbourne, the cake shops in Accland Street (sp?) in St Kilda, some really joy Italian restaurant in Lygon Street (sp?)in Carlton, Luna Park and the MCG of course

Melbourne's a great city, I lived there for a year and had a good time. I was treated as warmly as a local even though I was a New South Welshman. I love the culture in Melbourne, especially the footy culture, it's so different to here in Sydney. But I also love Sydney too, being my hometown. One thing I'd put in favour of Sydney is the closeness of good surf beaches to the heart of the city, but apart from that I reckon the cities are pretty even, they're both nice. I've been to all the other capital cities in Australia, they're all pretty good too!

I really like NSW too, whenever I go there I have a ball, the people are so friendly & willing to make sure you have a good time. I especially love the Hunter Valley region & I think I could live in Maitland if the Bombers relocated there.

Andrea,

You are on dangerous ground... never disagree with a Victorian or have an opposing point of view, their answer " Generally" is,

"We're better because there are more of us"
or
" Youre football is shit, because there are more of us "

or "Because your footballers never played in the VFL your footballers NEVER proved themselves, because there are more of us "

because now we have a new AFL competition made up of mainly former VFL teams sponsored by Big Victorian business and Television, we are better, because there are more of us"

"Shut up you non Victorians are all Dickheads, we know because we are omnipotent, and there are more of us"

"Even though most of us never saw football outside of Victoria prior to the New National competition being formed in 1990 we know your leagues were country quality because well perhaps there are more of us."

etc. etc. etc.

But Melbourne is such a nice place, their coffee is fabulous, the city is Grand, the sports are unbelievable, the footy public are passionate, and it is such an elegant and fun place to be and I just love the Victorian culture ,because the People..oh damn it are so NICE.....Because ...there are more of them....

Kindest regards

Love Melbourne

Love the coffee, love the nightclubs, love the ease of getting around the place, love the pub culture with all the great bands and all the top class cabaret and stand up comedy, love the Art Gallery, love the trams, love places like Acland Street and Brunswick Street, love going down the Peninsula to Sorrento but especially I love the footy and the footy fans, they really make the Melbourne the very special place that it truly is.

Love Sydney too ! - but for different reasons because I think they are different places with a different outlook on life.
Love Sydney's beaches and their closeness to the city is brilliant, Love the weather - its close to the perfect climate (especially winter), Love the food I rate Sydney restaurants as better than Melbourne, but the quality of Tasmanian food kills both of 'em), love the harbour and all the waterways, a paradise for boaties and boatie wannabes alike, love the architecture, love the size of the place - it seems like a vast unchartered continent at times.

I reckon there are big differences between the two great cities, - but thats good, it creates a natural tension and competitiveness between them which the whole of Australia benefits from.

Long live the Sydney-Melbourne rivalry I say !

i did say that every state will argue that they have the best beaches and all have reason to do so
but ocean grove, torquay, etc
not to forget the best race tracks in the country
the grand prix
the australian open
the afl grand final
etc etc
and the dandy ranges
