I'm not saying it's a good\bad thing, I am giving credit to Nintendo for changing their target market from traditional gamers to the family market.

Wii is probably the only console that has very little M rated games. I remember reading an article stating that it is increasingly hard for developers to make adult games on the Wii because of how crap it sells.

thats only because Nintendo is the only company that realises that the average Wii consumer doesn't get their news from IGN.

Advertising is key.

What do you expect when you send a game out to die without an astute marketing plan besides praying to the gods.

thats why things with brand recognition like COD, Guitar hero and Resident evil are consistently successful.

while everything else that sells is pretty random because consumers are making their choice at the store without much prior knowledge.

Call of Duty Reflex is probably going to be a million seller without a single inch of marketing at all.
