Hanoi is millions of times better for meHanoi vs HCMC?
Food, feel and crumbly real architecture, easy to walk around too as long as a scooter doesnt kill you
HCMC was a little sparse and sterile in comparison

Re Hoi AnProbably posted in this thread a little too late.
Just finished up Luang Prabang (Laos), Hanoi and Ha Long Bay. Off to Hoi An and Siem Reap over the next little period so any recommendations for those places would be great.
Dont know about Strippers but get down to Beer Street for some spring rolls and beerI’m in Hanoi for work in a few weeks, would like to drink piss and go to the strippers, what are the chances?

We honeymooned in Vietnam in 2006 and spent a week in Hanoi. We stayed in the Old Town and were only about 200 metres from Beer Hoi Junction. Loved it, sitting on some plastic chair drinking 10cent beers, probably gone up by now. Great food, very friendly people, and enjoyed the freedom of walking around not being pestered like we did down south.I’m in Hanoi for work in a few weeks, would like to drink piss and go to the strippers, what are the chances?
Agree they make a good burger tooPuku sports bar is good for footy.
Puku sports bar is good for footy. No girly bars whatsoever in Hanoi.
Just another question, i believe I'll get a better deal for Dong (hurr hurr) over there and they have ANZ atms over there yeah?
You will typically get a better exchange rate in the country with the weaker currency. So you'll get more Dong exchanging AUD in Vietnam, than you will in Oz.Just another question, i believe I'll get a better deal for Dong (hurr hurr) over there and they have ANZ atms over there yeah?
Yep that's it. Just those things. Nothing else to see or do here.Isnt there just the botanical garden, the zoo, the big pool on the roof and the old Indian quarter and food ?
Cu Chi tunnels in Ho Chi Minh is a good day tour. Just fascinatingCool.
Best cheap day tours/fun stuff to do? Like see the Mekong Delta/War Museum and general activity. Have found if you use Western Operators they rip you off blind (Bali travellers beware) but locals are happy to take you round at a reasonable rate.
Training it.. LOL! No one trains it here mate. Partly because some places don't have them, partly because those that do aren't great, and mostly because plane travel around these parts is so cheap now.Wouldn't mind doing this for my next trip, short of Bali I've really ignored Asia. Probably way cheaper and easier to get your mates to come. How much would say three weeks cost? More interested in probably travelling less and enjoying good places for longer, sick of training it every fourth day.
HCMC. I hate the cold, and it snows in Hanoi during winter. Besides the weather though, there is just more to see and do down south.Hanoi vs HCMC?
Tambling.. LOLIn addition Sivart's recommendations above, if you get time try and head to Dempsey Hill for dinner one night and the walk up and down Orchard Road is a good experience (try eating at Marché @ Somerset.....if you can find it, I eat there every month.). My favourite shopping centre is Paragon and Tambling Mall is a quaint, out of the way little place that hold some good memories for me (but don't go out of your way to go there unless you're staying down that end of Orchard at The Regent or close by). Taxi's are cheap but the MRT is fantastic so try and use that as much as you can. If you go to the Marina Bay Casino - take your passport. Singapore is 'done' in 3-4 days, so enjoy.
Silk ain't a budget carrier. Yes they are owned by Singapore airlines, however Silk are a full service carrier, but do the shorter routes in Asia, while Singapore does more of the longer haul flights.I flew with Singapore airlines to Thailand and Silk are from Thailand to Singapore. The Silk air flight was about 20% full and is Singapore airlines budget flight carrier, but I found them to be really good
So how was the trip?Apparantly no matter when you go its going to be hot and humid. Looking at going March/April 2017, what are peoples thoughts?
What sort of places are must dos in these countries? Where would you spend the most time?
Travel schedule changed, 2017 became a write off, 2018 became a US trip, 2019 visited South Korea and 2020 am hoping for more of Europe. So how was the trip?
