The day after wins like this are always brilliant. Waking up with birds chirping, the final siren occasionally running through your mind. It takes the day to a new level. Kind of like that awful scene in Spiderman 3 with Toby Maguire walking down the street.

It's been said, but that win really is substance to get us through the off season.
Imagine how three on the trot going into Mad Monday could feel.

He speaks fairly candidly about what he thinks is good and bad. He's got runs on the board so that's fair enough imo.

To be honest, I really enjoyed his and Lynchy's commentary.

I suspect that if I were an Adelaide supporter, I'd have been less enthused to have listened to a commentary team comprising of a former Port Adelaide footballer and 2 blokes with a collective 675 games for the BBFFC!!!

Yeah, Roos is a great commentator. I think he's pretty impartial - certainly his exasperation at our last 5 minutes was obvious and note-worthy and was in no way biased. He was just calling it as he saw it and speaking as a former coach. He echoed the thoughts of many of us, I'm sure.

Go read their match day thread... you don't need to suspect that's how you'd feel by reading their comments...

Yeah, his point about the inexperienced Lions not slowing the game down was correct, if annoying. Roos does get a bit pedantic with his commentating.

He was calling it as he saw it & I was pretty stoked that he didn't mention the Swans at all during the whole commentary!

As has been mentioned before I don't think our young team has capacity to play that tempo football and the way we played for the last 5 minutes was what got us back into the game in the first place. I think if we had have gone down that tempo footy path in the last 5 mins it would have played right into the Crows hands.

Interesting that in the second and third quarter we managed a few "red-time" goals which hasn't been our strength.

There were a couple of incidents that may get the Crows players in trouble. Petrenko collected Raines head on. It wasn't forceful, but I remember Brennan getting a week for something similar against Kreuzer a few years ago. And Doughty slung Rockliff's head in the turf, which the AFL are pretty hot on at the moment. Neither were anything serious imo, but both might end up with a minor grading.

Raines'll get looked at for bowling over an ump.

This!
I guess his past football coaching/teaching habits are pretty much now part of his character – I still hear it from Malthouse and I’d be pretty sure this is exactly why the broadcasters seem to prefer ‘special comments’ from recent ex coaches than ex players.

For the record I don’t see Roos as a pretentiously pompous commentator and even further away from being obnoxiously ostentatious – on my sliding scale I'd place him a lot closer to the other end - I generally find him to come across as being modestly humble.

How much better is Roos than Brereton.

He is painful in the extreme and doesnt care less that he doesnt know the Lions players or anything about them. It always sounds as if he is doing us a favour coming to the Gabba at all.

I thought Roos and Lynch had a good relationship more of a "fireside chat" than an all out assault.

Mentioned to Bob post-match - Huddo's post goal celebration was good, but how awesome was the shot of the coaches box post-Lisle's goal?

I absolutely lost it when it came up on the big screen. Definitely Gif worthy.

I quite like Derm as a commentator TBH. He knows sweet FA about our players, but he sure can read a game of footy and isn't shy about calling it how he sees it.

I already know about our players - it is insight on the game I want. The likes of Derwayne are just a waste of space in that regard.

Got Jackie 11 votes behind Mike Pyke on foxfooty.com.au CGU unsung hero, off for lunch now.

Two Lion heroes in one year would rock.

Dermie has a penchant for getting seriously over-analytical about isolated incidents though. He will still be rabbiting on about the fact that some player lead into the wrong space 10 minutes after it happened.

Also can't stand his desire to try and predict how each player is going to kick a set shot. Although I do enjoy the awkward silence after he predicts the ball to curve right to left or something and it clearly doesn't happen.

That win was huge, makes up for the loss against the saints where it looked like the players were done for the year. Those kind of wins make the pre season a bit easier to go into and probably gives Black a bit more incentive to stay on one more season. Won't be too bad a side with at least Leuey and McGrath Back in the side next year

I think we can play tempo footy and try to control the play. Rewind to the Freo game, we showed we can do it.

I think what we CAN'T do is switch quickly between the free flowing, attacking game plan & the tempo one. Give us one or the other and we can stick to it. Expect us to be able to switch between them & I think that's where the problems lie. Perhaps it's we're just not smart enough to do the switch yet, perhaps the message was to keep playing the way we were playing, who knows... but for whatever reason we can't flick that switch at the moment.

Yeah, completely agree Jorgs, should have clarified in my point but when we try and switch between the two it does nay work for us.
