Politics Violence against Nazis, acceptable?

No, no its not

The guy chose to hit him for a pretty pissweak reason

He deserves to spend some serious time in jail as this death was completely avoidable and unnecessary

I think we fundamentally disagree. I think anyone who calls a black man a black bastard deserves a punch in the head.

He deserves a lot of things, but you dont respond to words with violence. That just lowers you beneath their level

If a black person or even an Asian called me a white bastard could I punch them in the head?

Up to you matey. Nobody is gunna give you permission. Its still a crime.

And lets be honest, you wouldnt do it anyway so why even ask.

No I wouldn't because I think about things before I do them because actions can have repercussions.

I do know that in Victoria when socialist groups have clashed with protest groups like Rise Up, it's the left who have started the violence in a majority of cases.

The ultra left is no different to the ultra right in that they are willing to use violence to silence their opposition

But the far left is fundamentally different from the far right.

And having been present at most of those protests i think you are completely wrong. Just because the left won the fight doesnt mean they started it.

Were you even there or are you relying on news reports from far right sources?

As a general rule, the far right start it and the far left end it.
I think you both mythologise the far left a bit, but I'm definitely interested to come to one of these rallies some day.

They seem to have stopped in Melbourne.

I think the tipping point was when the Sydney Fash tried to harrass people at a food festival and it descended into a wild brawl.

The source I'm using for this information is Victoria Police. So not aligned to either group.

It should also be noted that with the Rise Up protests Rise Up went through the correct process of a political protest for safety, the counter protests never did so no registered leaders.

If you are willing to use violence against political opponents it a means you shouldn't be listened too.

Elements of Vic Pol have demonstrated they are pretty sympathetic to the far right.

And literally the opposite happened at the battle of Coburg. The far left organised a pro-multiculturalism rally, the far right tried to gate crash and the UN of Coburg shut them down.

Generally counter protests don't seem to register, regardless of who is doing it. I imagine because the police know they're coming anyway so what's the point?

Personally I don't think any protest group should have to register s**t with the police. Its a protest, its meant to be a democratic right.

Bang on about the Coburg protest, I posted earlier about an Uber driver who had cops turning up at his place the day before asking ("warning?") them not to attend. FFS the cops should be protecting them!!

Not sure though if that is common with all the protests. You might not agree but there are elements within antifa that are downright violent campaigners.

I completely agree that there are some very violent members of antifa.

The whole registering of protests was brought about as a public safety issue and following the G20 debacle with the courts, Vic Police made it known to parliament that if they didn't put in place laws about organisers registering protests and taking some responsibility for behaviour then they'd shut down all unregistered protests with force under public safety laws.

What was clear from all the fights was that the counter protesters be they left or right were invariably the ones to start the fights because they were unregistered and knew it.

Yeah Vic Pol are pretty fascist themselves, as your story above illustrates. They have often got away with not identifying themselves, as well as using force when it isn't necessary.

As for the counter protesters always starting the fights, where did you get that information from?

I know for a fact its wrong, because I was there. Just wondering why you're saying it? And this isn't to defend Antifa either, in fact at the Coburg rally it was the original rally (not the counter protesting fash) that broke police lines and started the fight.

Vic Police took that attitude because after the G20 riots when police where assault by groups and the courts wouldn't register convictions because it might impact the careers of the university student protesters it meant they had to take a hard right stance on the issue.

Coburg was the far right, Victoria Police issued a statement saying that. The CBD ones were the far left, Victoria Police said that too.

People see the police as being sympathisers to the right, but really there is no grounds to that belief. The vast major are staunch ALP voters and have a ideology in line with that. Just people fail to understand that when your job is to enforce the law as written that is your job, blame to people who write the s**t not those that enforce it. They are after all just following the orders of our politicians.

The police ran over journalists and assaulted dozens of protesters at the g20 and anti-Iraq war protests. And they illegally refused to wear identifying badges because they had planned to use violence against innocent people right from the outset.

Believing Vic Police is a practice fraught with error. And just following orders is one thing, (though no defence in court) breaking the law to do it though?

I was freakin' there.

So you are one of the ones destroying public property then were you? Civil disobedience you called it, just happen to involve hurling objects at police and inciting violence.

I saw what happened and you can believe your side of it, but the truth is some of those protestors deserved jail time, they were only interested in destruction of property and inciting violence. They even said it themselves

I didn't say that, I said I was there.

First you said it came from a "friend" who is a cop, now you claim you saw it. Are you a cop?

Doesn't change the fact that Vic Pol had an organised campaign to seriously assault journalists and protesters at the G20 protests (amongst others).
