Politics Violence against Nazis, acceptable?

From what I read around the traps Nazism is on the rise....

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-11-15/how-anti-semitic-stereotypes-from-a-century-ago-echo/10496740

We're getting swastikas painted on people's houses in Australia. I feel like 5 years ago that would be unheard of and if it did occur it would have been shouted down in the harshest way possible. Currently people hardly bat an eyelid. It doesn't take many guesses as to why these people have become so emboldened. I feel like the repeated calls to down-play modern day Nazism which we've seen quite a bit on here (and other parts of the internet moreso) also play into this.

Could it be the boy-who-cried-wolf effect?

So many people are so quick to label anyone who disagrees with them as a Nazi / Racist / Communist / Sexist / Bigot that the words have lost nearly all meaning and power, such that those who really are neo-Nazi's are getting much more of a free pass than they would have previously.

We see it all the time here; anyone who is vaguely conservative in their political views is a RWNJ / Nazi whilst anyone vaguely left of Mussolini is a Commie.

Don't you mean anyone left of Mussolini is a socialist.

People haven't quite comprehended that socialism is an economic ideal and that communism is a political ideal. Oh... and they seem to think that the nazi's were really socialists because they have the world socialist in their name.

Unfortunately, this is what people think antifa is because these little anti-social shitbags have appropriated the name.

This, in my opinion, is what the real antifa looks like.

Neo-nazism and white nationalists are getting a free pass because of the dickheads in the top picture, and they give true anarchists like myself a bad name because all they want to do is destroy s**t. And unfortunately, in the end, it's going the be the guys in the bottom picture, and other like minded people, who will have to take up the fight against fascism once more.

It's just over 100 years since the end of world war 1, which lead to the rise of fascism in Germany and Italy, and Communism in Russia and China and other places around the world... and we appear to have learnt nothing from those 100 years.

For a picture taken in 1944, a lot of those blokes would've held racist, sexist, homophobic views. We can't judge them too harshly as that was how most people were brought up in those days, but anyone holding similar (or even lesser) views today can be labelled a "Nazi" o_O

However, the guys in the bottom picture went to war to stop tyranny and protect freedom from said tyranny. And to be honest, anyone falling back on the "nazi" slur to anyone who disagees with their point of view has, in my opinion, already lost the argument. If someone is spouting racist views... call them what they are... a racist. If someone is spouting sexist or homophobic views, call them out for that. Avoid calling them nazis or fascists at all costs because it distracts and detracts from the white supremacists and the neo-nationalists who want to wipe out all the jews, blacks, asians, muslims, arabs, etc etc, just so that they can have their white privilege.

Anti-fascist should be the default state of everyone who enjoys their civil liberties that our forefathers fought, and in some cases died, to protect. The very civil liberties that we are surrendering to governments that have their roots in corporate sponsored government. The idiots on the "far left" and the "far right" are two sides of the same coin... the idiot coin!

This might well earn me a "Thanks Ben" to be sure, but you do know that the Waterford Whispers is Ireland's own Betoota Advocate, right?
Wait, what? It's a satirical news site??? Jesus they need to make that much clearer.

We know better today.

I reckon 'better' is wholly subjective. We can't help but be focused on the short time around our lifespan to provide some kind of moral baseline and delta. We happen to be living in an age where values are shifting rapidly.

I don't think it's valid to judge those of a different time as better or worse. It's just how it was back then. Many of those blokes we might now consider racist, sexist, homophobic volunteered and gave up their lives for our freedom from tyranny. On balance, you could say they were 'better' people than people now who gets their kicks from calling out 'Nazis'.

Maybe those men would not have had to go to war and risk their lives to stop tyranny and protect freedom if more people had come to the aid of the original Antifa when they were fighting to stop the fascists in the streets of Europe during the 20s and 30s.

The problem is the people in antifa now call the people in your second photo fascists.

Not even that, there’s a reclassification of the capitalist West being essentially fascist.

Still find it strange that most still seem to believe extremism (of any sort) arises in a vacuum.

Lol those poor bastards were just going over there to rescue the best scientist s from the Russian s. Wealthy US financiers profited massively from building the nazi war machine. Nazi scientists went on to play important roles in the cia and nasa.

There's justifiable, proportional responses, and then there's fascism, the alt-right and all the associated uglies.
