Any player who doesn't feel up to that can come to me and we'll organise a trade.'

So what did Lyon do once he didn't feel 100% committed to the Saints? He left. It would only be hypocritical if he stayed on and put in a half-arsed effort.

Because I would like to see the AFL break the sick cultural paradigm it operates under. SPecifically, the notion that it is appropriate to "negotiate" outcomes in relation to salary cap / drug offences. They need to completely cut the matey, incestuous relationship they have between all parties.

We need principles driven outcomes.... not easy outcomes. Principles like fairness, accuracy, reliability, transparency.

both clubs do not have any on a the veterans list. as long as the extra $400k to the salary cap they are proposing is not added to their already extra list establishment cap, i guess there won't be an issue in terms of fairness.

i am wondering how they are going to phase it in? the next set of contracts?

Sounds like the first step to removing FA compensation.

The AFL needs a bigger pool of FA's so clubs that lose players are able to 'compensate' themselves by going after someone else, and one handy way of increasing player movement is to remove the mechanism that makes it easier and more attractive for clubs to hold onto their veterans.
