This topic goes in the highly speculative box, but after reading the article in The Oz regarding Voss being sought by WC, I was thinking why not put our hat in the ring?

He lead what was arguably the best midfield department in modern footy and the one area we are obviously poor at is the middle in general and taking advantage of Sandi in particular.

BTW, for the record, if he does go to assistant coaching job while the GC team get their stuff together, I reckon he will be more the beneficiary than the club he's at, but still worth musing over.

Yes he does, but the story goes that he isn't going to be necessarily coaching the development squad in the 2 years prior to them entering (2011 I think). This means he may take up an assistant coaching role if offered in the mean time.

Surely if you were going to coach the new club the wise thing would be to want total control of the development squad right from the start?

I'm starting to think Voss might be a bit of a dud. I'd much rather Buckley if we are going to chase a high profile midfield coach.

In fact I'd make Buckley our number 1 off-field priority if I was on our board.

I think we need to have some stability in our coaching dept as we push towards a flag in 2010.:D

Got a great group currently, but a couple are new to WA, Freo, and also coaching so with time....

We need somebody who can maximise the 'Sandi' effect and generally get some consistency out of our midfield. I hate being negative and try to avoid it, but stuff stability, I want a system that works, then stabilise that.

BTW, Bucks would be an interesting option too - its all speculative like I said, but something about Voss bringing that 2001-2004 Brisbane midfield mindset would be nice - of course its all about the cattle out in the park too.

ditto. I reckon Voss has done alot of talking and not alot of anything else. His bits on TV haven't impressed me (i'm hoping he is dumbing it down for the tv). We've had enough ____ups with untried coaches, and voss will be the most untried of the lot. I reckon he has the potential to be a disaster if he gets the GC gig. I would give it to sheedy. At least you know with sheedy it might not be a home run, but you'll get a couple of bases.
