Michael Voss has been dumped as senior coach of the Brisbane Lions. Maybe Harvey may step in as caretaker, maybe not.
Considering Melbourne are looking as well for an 'experienced' senior coach to take the reigns, I personally cannot be happier with FFC's recruitment of Ross Lyon - whether you like the way it happened or not. We have beaten out a lot of other clubs for his signature.

Sounds to me like Roos has found himself a new coaching position and it is not at WC:D looks like they will have to continue with the chemist and the Hunter to centre half foward move.

Didn't think Voss was going to badly and shows the value of a pre-season cup!

Lol, poor Harvs also, he must think now that its something about him that attracts these behind the back moves.

Brisbane would certainly not sack Voss if they didn´t have someone better lined up. Voss has actually done okay in the last month or two.

Definitely - it's similar to our situation where he probably wasn't going badly enough to get sacked outright, but becomes the casualty of the board securing an upgrade.

Good news is at least Roos can't fix the eagles now, assuming he lives up to his supercoach billing.

We don't need to be fixed?

Has a coach ever been sacked mid-season after winning 4 of their last 6, with the 2 losses both decent efforts against top 8 teams?

With 2 of their last 3 against GWS and Dogs, it looks like they've sacked him now for fear he'll finish the year too strongly and become harder to displace.

More cynical than our treatment of Harvey I reckon, I wonder if Brisbane will cop anywhere near the stick we did?

I don't understand the Roos hype. He has an almost exact win/loss record as Woosha and the same GF win/loss ratio.
May have something to do with the fact that he didn't inherit the comp's best core of midfielders, mercilessly grind them into the dust, and then head for a wooden spoon. In fact Sydney didn't even bottom out and Roos created the culture for a quick return to a premiership under one of his protege's - we have the other coaching us.

Much more so. And the answer to your question is; no. Be good if someone called Whateley out as a hypocrite though.

Perfect time for a coach to take over at Brisbane, set up nicely with plenty to work with talent wise without massive expectations of immediate success like at say Carlton

Personally I rate Roos well above Worsfold.
Difference is Worsfold was handed a ready made team Roos built a very good team.
The hype probably about Roos is that he is one of the few coaches who everyone rates quite highly and seemingly does not have a gig for next year. Question is does he want to coach next year?
Watching him on Fox I have detected a very subtle shift to it being a possibility compared to early in the year as a definite NO.

Would you swap Woosha for Roos at the end of the year?
I'm actually not too sure. The thing with Roos is that you know what your getting. If Woosh leaves at the end of the year I am worried we will get an untried coach ala Neeld and they could end up being a dud. Whatever eventuates, I'd back the club board to make the correct decision.

I'm not too surprised with this year, was expecting us to finish 5th - 8th. I have high hopes for next year though

I'm actually happy for Harves. Has essentially got Brisbane in a similar position to we were in 2007 (well... maybe closer to us 2008-2009).

Unfortunately I don't think he'll be given as long as Harves was given to develop Freo.

Roos will get the Brisbane job, wouldn't surprise me at all if Kirky joined him there in the next two years as an assistant. Despite their patchy form and Crazy Vossy's recruiting and list development approach the Lions actually have a fair bit of promise, if they can keep the core youngsters fit, draft well this year and maybe snag a couple of free agents to replace Browny and Simon Black, I can see Roosy getting them back into the finals in a year or two... Much better coaching job to get than the scum Demons...
