Has a coach ever been sacked mid-season after winning 4 of their last 6, with the 2 losses both decent efforts against top 8 teams?

With 2 of their last 3 against GWS and Dogs, it looks like they've sacked him now for fear he'll finish the year too strongly and become harder to displace.

More cynical than our treatment of Harvey I reckon, I wonder if Brisbane will cop anywhere near the stick we did?

Nice thinking. Decent chance you're right.

If it weren't for Melbourne being in the market, I'd have good money on Rocket ending up at Brissie. (despite the fact that I don't bet)

I reckon Rocket will end up at Melbourne... no idea who will end up at Brissie though. Williams?

He was out of contract at the end of the year, completely different to the Harvey situation.
Agreed - If his name wasn't Voss he would have been gone long ago. Five seasons - no improvement. sure they won a couple of games lately but Geelong was the only one of real note. I'm sure they have their eye on somebody though.

Definitely - it's similar to our situation where he probably wasn't going badly enough to get sacked outright, but becomes the casualty of the board securing an upgrade.

Good news is at least Roos can't fix the eagles now, assuming he lives up to his supercoach billing.
The best news is that he'll be off Swans the Couch. Worse than Drew Banfield's short stint as boundary rider.

Sounds to me like Roos has found himself a new coaching position and it is not at WC:D looks like they will have to continue with the chemist and the Hunter to centre half foward move.

Didn't think Voss was going to badly and shows the value of a pre-season cup!

Forget WCoast. Think how Melbourne are going to feel seeing another quality coach swiped from their gaze.

Shocker of a decision by the Brisbane board IMO.
Vossy may have started a little shakily. But we need remember he hadn't even held an assistants role before taking the reins. Champion player and hard to see how the steady improvement of his team this season combined with a good spread of young players coming on adds up to a sacking. o_O
They could only have a certain gun coach already in their pockets to do this surely? So, unless Leigh Matthews is returning or RTB is leaving us, it can only mean Paul Roos is the man. Can't think of any other candidate that would be worth this crappy decision!

I cant help but wonder if brisbane saw the way we went about things and took the same "we need a great coach, ours at the moment is ok, but this opportunity wont last" approach. good on them if thats the way it works out and they get roos.

I have maintained from the moment we appoint ross lyon, that the first proffessional thing we have ever done as a club, was the way we sacked harves and poached ross

I don't think they have a replacement yet. They told him they weren't going to renew his contract and he walked away.

I think he will come to regret not seeing out the season. I hope it wasn't his pride that caused him to throw the table over and leave, metaphorically.

Whateley is going to have a conniption over this!

.... unless he is a complete hypocrite, that is.

There are differences aren't there? We had made the finals the year before, Voss hadn't, Harvey had a year to run on his contract, Voss doesn't.

Gerarad is a man of details.

Interesting that Brissy haven't actually secured Roos like we did with Lyon. I'd imagine it would cripple the club if they fired a favourite son like Voss but then couldn't get either Roos or Williams and had to settle for second best.
