It would seem unlikely but I would really like Harves to see the season out well and then be offered the job next year also. If Roos or Williams don't take it up the options look a bit thin on the ground otherwise. Adam Simpson, Rob Harvey or Scott Burns maybe? Harves stacks up fairly well against any of these options IMO.

I reckono williams would have a crack at it. He also used to play with brissy, so there is a connection there.

Harves i dont think is up to it, and given his exit from freo, he may find it hard to want to get back into the saddle, once a heart is broken, it is not easily repaired

Well you're quite right there. But what I was getting at is that perhaps the Lions have put all their eggs in the Roos basket. But what happens if Roosy gets cold feet and backs off? There is only up & comers left really. My guess too is that figjam Watters might get his marching orders from the saints soon as well. No need for Chocko Williams to leave Melbourne in search for a head-coaching job. I am quite sure Roos will take the job but it does make it a very interesting decision for Brissy if he doesn't.

I'm actually happy for Harves. Has essentially got Brisbane in a similar position to we were in 2007 (well... maybe closer to us 2008-2009).

Unfortunately I don't think he'll be given as long as Harves was given to develop Freo.
Are you suggesting Harvey is a realistic contender at the Lions? Or even an actual contender?

His name is not even brought up apart from being the obvious person to coach out the season, after which I assume a new broom will come through the coaching ranks, and Harvey will be moving on.

As a speculation, if I was the EFC, and given Hird has decided on a course of action which will delay his personal standing as a coach in the wake of the ASADA investigation, I would be asking Hird (+ Thompson) to stand aside until the outcome of his challenge is complete. Essendon have not elected to challenge in the same manner. Harvey could be appointed as an interim coach.

Man, where does this new found hatred of Harves come from? Yes, Lyon is a better coach, a much better coach - but by God didn't we all crumble when the news first broke of his sacking?

The blow was softened by the news of Lyon's appointment; but was he really that bad? I don't think he'll be leading Brisbane to any premierships soon, but I have faith is his recruiting and development process on a limited budget, and I think the Lions will be better off for it.

Then; when the time is right, hand the reigns over to someone more qualified before the injuries begin to mount, like Paul 'Go the F'n Swans' Roos.

I'll be intrigued to watch vision of a Swans Vs Lions game if he does get appointed their coach.

Cheering and applauding every goal in the coaches box no matter which team scores...

I see some people just can't let things go and are using this announcement as an excuse to put the boots in to Harvey yet again. What the hell is up with that?

It's not going to happen, but I reckon the reaction on this board would be priceless if Brisbane came to an arrangement to pay out whatever penalties apply in the exit clause of RTB's contract to get him over to the Lions.

Half time interview praising the Swans effort and resilience and culture, no matter which side is winning. 'It's an interesting story, that one...'

You guys are funny, and way out of line. Harvey is being discussed as a potential senior coach.
