You guys are funny, and way out of line. Harvey is being discussed as a potential senior coach.
Actually Gav, the posters I'm aiming at aren't discussing anything of the sort, they are just rehashing old dirt and unsubstantiated innuendo from the past.

I have as much right to pick them up on it as you have to act like a supercilious prick. :)

Pick them up on what? Putting the "boot" in again or something silly. Ridiculous, and you don't actually quote anything of the sort. What posters? What posts? StingBitten quotes my post and talks about "hatred" of Harvey.... silly stuff. In it I advocate for Harvey to become a potential Senior Coach at Essendon and how I could see it coming about. I think it is a good fit, their current difficulties aside.

Yes, putting the boot in...will probably play Brown in the midfield, doesn't matter that players are injured, he'll still play them etc. It really is sad that some supporters feel the need to continually dump on Harvey well after he has left, because he was a good servant of the club and did more good than harm. Of all our ex-coaches, the vitriol aimed at Harvey is the worst, which is stunning considering that it was us as a club whose actions were most questionable in his dismissal.

Right. So you've got nothing, and just want to vent about Harvey. "vitriol" and "dump on Harvey". Where exactly is that? Even the post you refer to is pretty lame and light-hearted as far as bf banter goes.

I saw on Ten today today Mark Harvey comparing Voss' sacking to his own.
I can't remember the exact words he used but in a nut shell he stated that it's bad when you take a team right up to the point where they are about to do something then suddenly your gone.
It sounded to me like he believes he is the reason why Freo are doing so well at the moment......I beg to differ....
Did anyone else hear that and interpret it that way?

There were similarities. Voss had 5 years and started off with a massive over-estimation of their lists capability, thinking that he could top up for a tilt at the flag. Neither of them particularly stellar in terms of strategic coaching especially on game day, but both doing a decent job at developing some of the younger players. The huge difference is Voss was coming to the end of his contract and was simply informed they wouldn't be going around again.

that's how I interpereted it. His words were "do something special"

although it's difficult to point the finger at him saying he thinks it's becuase of him. He may simply have been indiciating that he believed he could have found success with the group

He also indicated that he has found his level as a senior assistant coach.

Begs the question;

How much of where FFC is today can we attribute to Harvey? Is there anything he can genuinely get credit for. Did he pave the way for Lyon.
Harvey didn't seem to get the best out of Clancee or Walters. Which players did Harvey develop, if any??

Mundy went from HBF to midfielder. Crowley went from being an outside player or wingman to tagger. Sandilands had his best ever years under Harvey, though that could have just been his maturity.

Then to a bulked up half forward on the brink of delistment

Pigs.
Harvey all but destroyed Crowley's career .
In Mark Harvey's insane stance on Rhys Palmer, he took our only good onballer out of the game and played our only KPF, Pavlich on ball to take the place of the only on baller we had in Palmer and took a non forward, Crowley, and changed his physique to take the place of Pavlich.

A truly bizarre chapter.

Crowley's been on the verge of delistment a few times in his career. In 2005-2007 he was a running winger who kicked goals, 2008 onwards he became a tagger. Had his role not been changed by Harvey who knows where he would have ended up.

Gee just looking at the 2011 season the club lost its last 7 games straight under Harvey, I knew we faded badly that year but not that bad.
Also lost to Melbourne by 89 points in r13!

I think Harvey's penchant for changing players roles is a relic from all of those years under Sheedy. He must have seen the master do it so many times under his tutelage and thought it was easy to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Clearly it is not as easy as it seems.

And lost to Hawthorn at the MCG from 24 points up 10 minutes into the final qtr in the most inept coaching performance in history.

But I digress, Mark has stated he doesn't want the job at Brisbane.
Unfortunately for Mark, the circumstances with the Brisbane job are the worst possible for him to take it.

Brisbane need a coach with a lot more media presence than Harvey (just about anyone) and who is clearly an upgrade on Voss (Roos). If they don't get those two boxes ticked then the move is strange.

I'm calling it now, the Brissie Board have stuffed up the Voss removal.

No coach in place to replace Voss. Sullied Voss's name by saying any new coach would be an upgrade on Voss. Not a very professional comment.

Does anyone want to coach Brissie ?.

Voss to the Demons ?.
