Anyone think that Vossy would be an even bigger superstar if he was melbourne based? Having been a Bears/Lion supporter and having lived in Brisbane for quite a few years, Ive always been super impressed with young Vossy..both on and off the field. He seems to have the up most respect from players..coaches and the public alike.
It seems to me that its really only been this yr that his skills ect have come under alot of acclaim...i remember when he won the brownlow with hird that alot of people were calling it..the worst result- the most unlikely-undeserving win........anyone agree that his stature has grown..possibly more due to the growing support for lions down in vic?

Have other supporters..from other clubs..always rated voss as a good player? or has it been just more recent..with media attention..ect?

Vossy is everything that's good in football. Courage; skill; passion; strength; desire; and he's the ultimate team man.

Every mum should want their little Johnny (or Blake, or Ryan, or Heath) to grow up like Michael Voss!

P.S. I reckon Voss has always been recognised as a champion here in Melbourne, although some may have downgraded his status due to that run of crippling injuries he suffered.

Wouldn't mind him in brown and gold ;)

I think any football person worth their grain in salt know that he is a champion, and as for him not deserving his '96 Brownlow, I tipped him, and I reckon he will get another for his efforts.

If anything, I think he's been very LUCKY that he hasn't been a Melbourne-based superstar, that automatically adds like a million more tonnes of pressure on a player. I think Vossy is an out and out champion, as a player and as a person, he's certainly gonna win another Brownlow in his time.

Having said that, I think he could have been just as big had he been Vic-based. I don't think the pressure would have been too much for him, he's SUCH a champion.

I am SO not biased here either. :D:D:D:D lol

Saturday night may just have signalled the changing of the guard - Carey, perhaps the greatest leader in the history of the game, may just have passed the baton of best captain and best player into the competition to Voss who turned a game on a stage that is usually reserved for Carey.

Voss is undoubtedly the new Paul Kelly, the new Carey and the new Jame Hird rolled into one.

An absolute champion.
