THE FANS have chosen Western Bulldogs superstar Marcus Bontempelli to be on the cover of video game AFL Evolution.

Bomtempelli will be one of three players featuring on the cover, with the other two to be decided at a later date.

Almost 128,000 votes were counted in a poll on AFL.com.au, with the premiership Bulldog taking out 23 per cent of the vote.

St Kilda forward Tim Membrey came in second after a late surge with 19 per cent, while Collingwood midfielder Adam Treloar rounded out the placegetters with 15 per cent.

It caps off a terrific year for Bontempelli, who took out the Dogs' best and fairest, was named in the All Australian team, and sizzled in his team's amazing premiership victory.

Each club had one young star nominated to appear on the front of the game that will be available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Greater Western Sydney gun Jeremy Cameron was one who tweeted to be the feature face, while several clubs also campaigned for their players.

AFL Evolution is due for release in the first half of next year.

Why did the Membrey thing start anyway?

I thought the club could do with a bit of exposure so set up a system with a few others to generate votes, once membrey was in the top three or four he started attracting a few joke votes.

Interesting that when it became clear membrey was going to run over the top the AFL site went down and then the votes were closed at 10.30, weird time when all they said was 22 December.

If it did, it would have been less than 1%, there are a few people who know exactly why it had nothing to do with them but I don't want to go into it.
