The nominations are:
Big John Elliot (a hero in my book, but despiesed by so many others)
Wayne Carey (can't seem to do anything right in most people's eyes)
Wayne Jackson (for everything)
Brisbane Bears/Lions (for wrecking the ROOS/Fitzroy merger)
Kevin Sheedy (let's face it, all non-bomber fans hate him)
Michael Long (a new contender for his gutless bump on Alastair Nicholson)
Gary Ablett (shouldn't be listed, but it seems everyone hates him now)

I register my vote for Kevin Sheedy !
So far - one vote for Sheeds.

Oh yeah i forgot about Libba. And the tribunal are villans big time. How they gave that thug Long only 4 weak games in the Ansett Cup off, when Ablett or a Brereton would have gotten 8 ? I reckon it was a political message by the AFL saying that because Long is aboriginal anything more than a 4 week sentence would result in protest of racism. Or am i being cynical here ?

Donkey Kong i agree with you completely, long's punishment is not nearly as severe as it should be or would have been if it was a different player. maybe its coz he is an aboriginal, maybe its coz it was after the grand final and they really didn't give a crap or maybe it was simply because the tribunal is really nothing more than a biest bunch of people who felt no need to punish long like they should have.
and oh by the way the bump was on troy simmonds not ailstair nicholson...
biggrin.gif

whatever the reason i think he got of very very easly and thats not fare.

Didn't you complain about people discriminating against you because you're Jewish? I guess it's one rule for you but you can hang shit on whoever you want?

Maybe it's because it was a f***ing accident?

Give Long a break, he did the crime, and will serve the time.

now the truth comes out, dees is a racist

in my book racists are lower than the scum sucking slime know as collingwood supporters (jk)

dees or should i call you pauline, michael long being aboriginal has nothing to do with his penalty

what michael long does for the aboriginal community is a credit to himself and his people, long is a true hero not only to aboriginals but to many many other people, you are harping on one, very insignificant moment in a magnificent career

heres some people you have missed that also have dished out some bumps yet you leave them alone

byron pickett
yates v dermie
teddy whitten
rodney grinter

explain those first, id especially like to hear your narrow minded opinion on rodney grinter and ill get back to you with more reason as to why you are full of it

Well I'm not an Essendon supporter, but I quite admire Kevin Sheedy.

It would be a minor miracle if "Donkey" (how apt a name is that!) or "Geelong4Eva" or whoever could one day actually substantiate their arguments with a bit of hard evidence as to exactly how the Brisbane Bears "wrecked the ROOS/Fitzroy merger." The Bears had an offer on the table to merge with Fitzroy since 1993. The AFL commission and the other 13 clubs, who decided accepted that Brisbane's bid was better..for whatever reasons. One might argue that North themselves wrecked any chance they had of getting the other clubs to agree to the merger with Fitzroy, by insisting on terms that the other clubs were never going to agree to, trying to take undue advantage of Fitzroy's weak bargaining position, and refusing point blank to agree to pay Nauru anymore than $550,000, which led Nauru to appoint an administrator on June 28th 1996...at which point the Fitzroy board lost any real power to conduct any further negotiations with North.

Come on Donkey/G4E. How about some hard evidence to back up your statement?

i'm sorry to tell u but i wasn't the one who said that michael long got off easly because he was an aboriginal it was donkey kong all i said was that it might be true but i really don't know. don't u dare call me racist u piece of shit, u don't know me coz if u did u would know that i would be the last person who would be racist seeing as i cope lots of crap from other people and i know how it feels so don't give me that shit, personally i think that long got of easly coz it was the end of the year and they couldn't be bothered going into the depth of this bump and nothing more.
i have respect for everyone (except for people who call other people racist and think they are all that when really they are nothing but low life scums) and jeff farmer is one of my very favorite players so how can u call me racist?
next time don't make such severe assumptions as they will only make you look worst!

Walshy,

You think people won't shut up about the Michael Long incident?

I can think of another topic that was already in full swing when I first posted here in March and is still going strong today.

I might as well put in my two cents worth on the Long/Simmonds incident. From a neutral perspective, I think 4 weeks was a more than adequate penalty. The fact that it includes the Ansett Cup means that it has ended up a little too lenient.

My reasoning is that there is nothing more dangerous in Aussie rules than to charge at someone when there head is down over the ball. When a player has absolutely no opportunity to protect themselves, their safety can be at stake. An elbow to the face, as reckless as it is, is nowhere near as serious as potentially causing spinal damage.

Because of Long's unblemished tribunal history and outstanding contribution to the game, 4 weeks is fair enough.
