POTY

5: Mark Ricciuto - (What more can we say about this man? 25 touches and 2 goals)
4: Ian Perrie - (Colossal game from the Pez Dispenser - did a stellar job on Ottens and racked up the possessions linking from defence)
3: Tyson Stenglein - (Masterful in the middle, absolutely slaughtered the Tigers in the centre-square and as usual got through his usual workload of one-percenters)
2: Kenny McGregor - (Made Gaspar look hopeless, career best 5-goal haul)
1: Michael Doughty - (Did plenty of good things for us through the middle - let's hope he can keep up his great form unlike in previous years when he has played a couple of good ones only to trail off and spend a while at Noarlunga)

BTM

3: Tyson Stenglein - (See above)
2: Matthew Clarke - (Super display of guts, determination and teamwork from the big unit)
1: Matthew Bode - (Was a little firecracker tonight, came on and got 11 touches, laid 5 tackles and kicked a goal... very in and under... are we finally seeing the real Krusty for the first time in yonks?)

Rookie

1: Trent Hentschel - (Bock stiff but misses out because of his error late on which cost us a goal, Trent all class in defence and is even going forward to provide drive - shades of a young Ben Hart)

POTY

5: Mark Ricciuto - (Just another true captain's game by the Roo )
4: Kenny McGregor - (Top effort at CHF - a real Mark Stevens type game)
3: Ian Perrie - (justified his recall ten times over - well done Ian)
2: Tyson Stenglein - (Not only tagged his opponent out of the game but was the premier mid-fielder in the square.)
1: Trent Hentschel - (just gets better every week, and is the best user of the ball from defence that we've had for many many years)

BTM

3: Tyson Stenglein - (See above)
2: Matthew Clarke - (terrific effort in ruck, around the ground, and top 2nd and 3rd efforts)
1: Kenny McGregor - (See above)

Rookie

1: Trent Hentschel - (Hentschel by the length of the straight. Will be a top-liner with his ability to read the play and beautiful use of the ball. Another good effort by Jericho, but it was Trent's night)

I was never a Trentschel hater (like i was with KMac for instance), I just thought he looked an absolute crock up forward in his first few games and as such didn't really rate him.

Since going back into defence and putting a little bit of meat on he's been all class though.

Best on Ground

5 - Mark Ricciuto - Fantastic game by the skipper. Great odds for Brownlow :D
4 - Ken McGregor - Wasn't he FANTASTIC. Not big stats but his marking and spliting of pack was SENSATIONAL.
3 - Matthew Clarke - By far the best game I have seen Doc play. Took Marsh and Ottens apart. Still dirty he wasn't played that mark in the goal square in the 1st quarter
2 - Tyson Stenglein - He was great. Kept Sugar right out of the game and was very effective at clearences.
1 - Ian Perrie - I cringed when I saw him picking up Ottens but he was SUPERB in the 1st quarter. Died out as the game went on but the ball didn't come down his end. Still like him more up forward.

Best Team Man

3 - Graham Johncock - Not the best game I have seen him play but his tackling, shepparding and 1%ers in general were fantastic. Created at least 5 goals with his 1%ers.
2 - Matty Bode - You've got to love this bloke when on song. He burned a couple of kicks but his work ethic was sensational. That goal he kicked was his trademark.
1 - Kenny McGregor - As Above.

Rookie

1 - Trent Hentschel - He was great today. Provided rebound out of defence and is coming along nicely. I thought all of our rookies played well tonight but Hentschel gets the vote.

I'm resisting the urge to look at the stats as it's hard to split players when there's such an even all-round performance.

BOG

5. Stenglein (awesome in winning the clearances)
4. McGregor (5 goals... who said he can't play up forward?)
3. Ricciuto (prolific ball winner once again)
2. Burton (can't fault his work rate)
1. McLeod (showed some of that old class)

BTM

3. Clarke (excellent performance in the ruck, and two goals to boot)
2. Bassett (very solid at full back)
1. Johncock (ferocious tackling)

Rookie

1. Bock (the loudest cheer I let out all night was when NB kicked his first goal)

Also worth mentioning: Perrie, Doughty, Massie, Edwards, Bode, Stevens, Carey, Hentschel

Not a chance in hell
Love the guy, but he is no backman. His options coming out of defense was poor, his kicking (short) nerve racking, and Physically ATM he is not 100% fit.

His future is as a forward.

Pretty good assessment - would have had Burton in place of Perrie. Perrie struggled for most of the night. He got all the touches because Richmond were often only plying a 3 man forward line, the balls coming into Richmonds forward line were erratic, and Perrie was able to run off Ottens.
But Perrie is not fit - so dont expect too much against better competition next week.

Interesting that you said that. I had 6 players to put into 5, and Burton was the other player, so I can't disagree with what you said.

Just on Perrie, I wondered about the lack of fitness. He was nothing short of outstanding arerobically in the pre-season, pushing the very best of them.

I wonder what the hell has gone wrong there?

Don't know Macca, but behind the play he was continually hunched over, and just "looked out of sort" not the confident player I saw last year.

Burton was great, and was a major factor in our first half dominence. Ground coverage, one touch, and fearlessness, were great examples to team mates. He was also very encouraging of his team mates.

Surely we are able to make our own assessments on who we think is deserves votes. I don't have to justify giving Bocky votes.
