Yay!! Great game but seriously how bad were Richmond!

POTY:

5: Mark Ricciuto
4: Ken McGregor
3: Tyson Stenglein
2: Ian Perrie
1: Matty Clarke

And not too far behind: Doughty, McLeod, Burton, Bassett, Hentschel, Bode, Stevens, Carey..hmm I might name the whole team!

BTM:
3: Tyson Stenglein
2: Andrew McLeod
1. Ian Perrie

Rookie:
1 - Hentschel was fantastic. he looks great in defence
It was encouraging to have three rookies to consider. Jezza and bock did some good things too.

His future is as a forward.
That may be, but who on this board ever thought he could have done such a job against Ottens and throughout the match with his marking, positioning, spoiling and run?

It's always worth looking at our options with all our big men - I'm sure there was a time when Lions and Power fans were saying the same thing about Leppa and Chad and their prospects in defence.

If he hones his skills back there who knows what might happen.

Perries game has to be taken in context of the opposition we were playing.
Richmond allowed most of the Crows players to look good - last night.
Doesn't mean against decent competition, their faults won't be exposed.

I'm well aware we played appalling opposition - I made mention of it in another thread last night - but the fact is Perrie did bloody well on Brad Ottens, a taller and well accomplished forward.

The Pez Dispenser's faults may well be exposed against better opposition but then again this situation may change over time if he is given one position and is allowed to develop and stick into it.

KMac's performance last night means that he'll probably be CHF against Geelong, meaning Perrie may well have the same job next week. Good luck to him and let's see how he goes because he's been on our list since 1998 and still hasn't nailed down a KPP role in our forward 50 - maybe he really is a defender ;)

Jerricho - Bock just didnt do it for me...2 goals, and then nothing really.....sorry Stiffy. Hentschell was good and I'm starting to like the look of this fellow. looks to be a committed player for the side. But I liked Jerichos hardness at the ball. Our new superstar! :)

Good games from nearly every player, good to see.

5) Ricciuto - What more can one say, champion player and BOG effort perfect example as a captain, leads by example.

4) McGregor - Like him at CHF now actually, after I wasn't happy with him being taken away from CHB but really Mark Stevens is as good as gone now. Strong grabs, good placement and good goalkicking.

3) Stenglein - Geez this guy knows how to win clearances, we play our best when he is used as an attacking weapon and not a tagger, always first to get his hands on the balls if it spills froma ruck contest.

2) Clarke - Great effort from the big fella, took good marks and kicked 2 goals and won the ruck given he had nowhere near as much game time as Ottens. Be great if he could back it up next week.

1) Perrie - Cant go past his effort on Ottens early, he was awesome in the first 1/4 I wasnt happy seeing him start down back early, screaming at the TV GODAMN he is a forward only, but no I was proven wrong. As Stiffy said tho, I'dalso rather him in the goalsquare.

Team man:

3) Stenglein - As above

2) Hentschel - Really played a good game, rebounded very very well took good marks kicked well, looks at home in defence, much better than up forward and noy o boy do we need a good young tall defender who can run just like Benny Hart, bit early for comparisons tho. Be nice to see him on the HBF or maybe CHB. I will have to eat humble pie here, I fully admit I was wrong when I first saw him disregarded him as a hack. Glad I was wrong.

1) Carey - Gotta give him a vote, he tried his guts out tonight, kicked 3 helped ina few more.

Others to do well, Macca, Doughty, Gallagher (give him MORE game time for gods sake, 16possesions in 50mins!) and also Johncock.

Rookie - Jericho, like this guy cross between Welsh and Mods maybe, I prefer him as a leading forward tho.

I agree that Kenny will play CHF against Geelong and Perrie will play in defence. Geelong don't really have threatening forward line.

I think the change will take place against Port. We will need Kenny in defence to take on Tredrea because there is no way in hell that Perrie would do anywhere near acceptable job on Tredrea.

Fantastic game by the Crows. Hard at the ball, direct, and solid marking were all great assests in our 75 point win...

Player of the year
5. Riccuito - Once again, he drove the ball our of the centre and almost always made good use of it. Hard at the ball, took some good marks, and kicked 2 goals. Best on ground.

4. Hentschel - His best game yet. Did everything that was asked of him and more. Took some good mark, disposed beautifully, and created some real drive from the defence.

3. Stenglein - Tackled, chased, disposed well, cleared the ball. Stinger's played his best game for about 2 years. Did well on Johnson, as well as being a ball winner himself.

2. McGregor - 5 goals. Not much else to say. Took some good marks, kicked very well, and was a big influence on our team's success.

1. Bode - Cleared the ball in the 2nd quarter, all class. Also tackled well, set some goals up and kicked one himself. Very good effort.

Best Team Man
3. Stenglein - As said before, did all the team things. Minimised Johnson's effectiveness and cleared the ball very well out of the centre.

2. Johncock - Despite the fact he wasn't a ball winner last night, Stiffy did some great things. Always gave a contest, tackled hard, did all the team things. Great effort.

1. Riccuito - See above

Rookie of the year
Hentschel - His best game yet. 16 possessions, about 7 marks, and used the ball very well. Never missed a target, and kept his opponent in check all night. Fantastic effort. Give him a Rising Star nomination!

Jericho was clever and used the ball well. Bock made some mistakes but still kicked 2 goals. Good debut.

Good work Crows. I'm very happy with their effort. :)

1. Doughty (2nd good game in a row & like Stinger good in close tackling & clearances)

Congratulations to our boys on a fantastic win!

And thankyou Richmond for being crap! Woeful.... The skills and general decision making around the ground were just about akin to my 14 yo brothers' school footy team  And its not a good sign when Danny Frawley cant even admit that his team are just really bad. He mentioned that there were good signs in the third quarter- the only good sign was that they were actually able to kick a score

And to Danny frawley: Mate, Hawaii is supposed to be really nice at this time of a year. Summer isnt it? Well pack for the summer because your flight will leave Melbourne within the next couple of weeks. Take a holiday and send me a post card!

Ok. enough about richmond. Just talking about them makes me cringe

Votes:
BOG

5. Roo- great captains game. Commitment all night
4. McGregor- 5 goals from a man whos supposed to be one of the best CHB in the AFL. Excellent
3. Clarke- Won the taps almost every time. But he was playing on the most fantastic Ben Marsh :D
2. Perrie- And the radio said he wasnt a backmen!
1. McLeod- Getting better as the season wears on. Great off the HBF and was exciting to watch

BTm
3- Massie. Great effort from Kristiaan! But the coloured shoes, what are you thinking dude? They are just as bad as your pink house  *shudders*

2. Stinger- Puts his body on the line all the time. Last night was no different.

1. Hentschel. Had to get a vote because he's not in my rookie this week.

ROOKIE
1- Jezza! The kid looks brilliant, especially in the foward lines when he attempts those left footed snaps! So exciting to watch. he's going to be one of the really good AFL players in about 5 years :D

When is Reils coming back? :( :( *sobs*

Rubbish. Any coach that doesn't stand up for his team through tick and thin should be shot.

No coach in their right mind will say that his team is just really bad. If he did that no player would want to play for him. He might think it BUT there is no way he should say it. This would stir even more trouble at Richmond.

Looks like votes a re being spread a lot more this week which is agood sign although probably more likely to happen after big win

POTY
5 - Roo - absolutely awesome atm - that brownlow has done wonders for his confidence!!:D
4 - McGregor - cant remember the last time a CHF kicked 5 goals.
3 - Perrie - his ist half especially - re his fitness; I think he has been to too many pie nights at Prospect!
2- Stenglein - great in the square
1 - Burton - I know its team game and he generally does his bit - but would still like him to get MOTY
[could have given this last vote to a number of players - eg: Hentschell, Bode, Doughty, Macca]

TM
3 - Stiffy - great defensive and 2nd & 3rd and 4th efforts!
2 - Clarke - contributed well to team performance
1 - Carey - ditto

R
Hentschell - very happy with his development

Stiffy, what I was reffering to is that maybe Danny Frawley just shouldnt have said that there were good signs when there clearly wasnt. I wasn't suggesting he should say that his team is really bad. Like you said, he would think it, and thats what i was implying. I was implying that he should most certainly be thinking it, and not saying that his team has good signs.

But the Rising Star award is for players 21 years and under.

Potenschel's birthdate is 25/12/82, so he is currently 21 years of age, and doesn't turn 22 till Christmas.

Is there something else that holds him back?

POTY
5. Ricciuto - Another magnificent effort by the skipper. Continues to lead from the front.
4. McGregor - 5 goals from CHF is a great effort
3. Perrie - Ball magnet early on and continued to win his position all night
2. McLeod - Provided great drive from defence and used the ball well
1. Hentschell - Just keeps getting better and doesn't waste a possession

Apologies to Stenglein, Clarke, Doughty and a few others. Great to see such a solid contribution by more than just a handful.

BTM
3. Stenglein - Tagged a potentially damaging out of the game and won possessions himself
2. Clarke - Best game from him for a while
1. Johncock - A bit fumbly but his tackling was first class and set up a few goals

ROTY
Henschell by a country mile. Bock and Jericho very encouraging but Trent is delivering.

The rules for Rookie votes on this site are 21 and under. However, for the actual Rising Star Award a player has to be under 21 before the season starts. So Hentschel is not eligible.

I have counted the first half more because that's when the game was there to be won.

5 - Ian Perrie - sensational thrashing of Big Brad Ottens. The ball would have gone to their contest 7 times at least in the first quarter and Perrie was only beated once. If it was the other way round and Ottens hads kicked 3 goals or so the game could have been very different. Not only did he play in front and get a lot of the ball, he also used it really well.

4- Stenglein - courge skill and technical nouse. A super game from Tyson and he is getting back to this best.

3 - Ricciuto - what more is there to say about our number 1 Club legend

2 - McGregor - strong hands and great kicking after the first five munites. Realyl developing as a player. Perhaps AYres is right and most of us wrong about Ken being up forward.

1 - Doughty - excellent first quarter and took Campbell to the cleaners - used the ball brilliantly.

T Hentschell by a country mile. Like I said last week his ability to hold the ball until the right option becomes available is second to none. Great disposal and I am really excited about how he can develop

Jericho showed some good sigs but Bock looked ordinary under pressure which is a big concern. Long way to go for him.
