3 Disco Dylan
2 Old Man Parker
1 Chom

Coaches: FOS

It is a really good sign that I can also make a case for Pink, Blamires, McDonald, Daniel, Sheezel, LDU, Larkey, Trembath…it was a good team effort.

3. LDU - He couldn't be tackled. Broke the game open.
2. Stephens - Played the best when the game was in the balance early. That goal was a thing of beauty.
1. Charlie Comben - A brick wall.

When parker marked that ball, two of us looked at one another and said, “this is a definite goal”. It was a crucial moment. the dependability of both Parker and Darling was immense today. Pity they’re so old.
I thought exactly the same. And I was very confident he would kick it.

I thought all of our three premiership player acquisitions last year, being Parker, Darling and Daniel, played really good games yesterday and were keys to our winning. Darling taught a lesson or two to his port opponents with some of his marking. Daniel's work as link up player was very solid, while Parker is just a magnificent player and has been all his career.

I’m usually a real “negative Nellie” when North players are lining up, much to the annoyance of my two sons. So, they scoffed at me when I declared “this is going to be a goal”. At the time, we were, surprisingly, breaking away from Port and I was thinking to myself “if we could get one more, I reckon we have it”. Then, Parker takes that mark. A sense of certainty just invaded my being at that moment. It was weird.

Traditionally its something you give, either after a game or at the end of the season (or both) to a player who plays the way you want as a coach. Either does a job or puts themselves on the line by running 50m to put on a shepherd or whatever else you think should be highlighted to the playing group.

The reason we do it in this thread is cos when things were at their worst i wanted to get people focusing on something positive or good instead of just the shitful performances and who was least worst on field.

I'm probably gonna give two coaches votes this week. One to FOS because Butters was alot less influential this week and FOS is playing the first game of his second season so he did a fantastic job as a young kid, the other to Jy Simpkin because of the block he made for Larkey that led to Larkey's first goal. It was early in the game and set a tone and even tho he was demoted for disloyalty that play showed a dedication and commitment that should be recognised and held up as a standard.

You're welcome to pick someone yourself if you want.
