Are we giving 5s or 3s?

5: Riewoldt (mate, you are a star, but you don't need me to tell you that)
4: Deledio (kicking has reached elite status. One of the best players in the comp)
3: Martin (god, we have a player on our hands)
2: Cotchin (was awesome in the 1st half when we were rubbish for most of it)
1: Newman (love this guy as skipper)

Massive apology to the Thursty who was good.

5/ Jack
4/ Newman
3/ Martin
2/ Lids
1/ Tambling (his attack on the ball and the man and his tackling was awesome I just wish he would get more of the pill because his usage is elite)

Cuz Thursty and Cotch all solid.

Special mention to Simmo in his final game. He stuck up for some of the younger guys really well. Shame he wasn't willing to stomp on that filthy germ Milne and take a few weeks for the boys.

5 - Jack
4 - Newman - was terrific after Q1
3 - Martin, was easily best on for us before that corkie
2 - Cotchin not huge numbers but one of a few who used it well when he had it
1 - Simmonds for the final game he was as close as any for this spot, was a big critic for him coming back this year but if he had played them all like this one he could of been handy.

Honourables: Newman (is he being slowly de-Bowdenised? Or is that de-Wallaceised?) Bling(sorry kiddies, but he is just much better at the back) , Lids & Cotch.

Awful: McGuane , Nahas (who I thought, contrary to popular opinion, was good last week.

A month ago this would've been a 12-15 goal blow-out...we did well to keep them below 100 points at Etihad...all in all, a solid effort with some genuinly exciting glimpses of the future against a well-drilled outfit in a premiership window on their favourite track with the glow worms well and truly on their side.:thumbsu:

And good to see us starting to actually nail a few kick-ins.:thumbsu:

Keep your advice to yourself.
Thanks.:thumbsu:
Webberley couldn't hit a a target it if killed him. But hey, I will shut up.
Thursfield would not have got a vote in the coburg reserves tonight......he was terrible defensively and also offers nothing offensively.

McGuane cant play no1 backman seems lost when Moore is not there
Our crumbers went awol but Saints always had that 2-3 extra players in defensive 50 when ball was bombed in
We needed that one more tall up forward

Yeah, but at least they were mainly more the result of him showing initiative by trying to swing them back in board rather than out and uselessness and stupidity.

Thursfield was so-so...mismatched on the little shrink (i.e. therapist) there for a while...some good spoils when he did manage to get to a contest though.

Also, forgot to mention Morton in the awfuls in my earlier post. Looks disinterested.

4.5 - Newman - Really did look a step above in class compared with all our other players. That sought of game with his long precision kicking, marks running back with the flight really reminds me of how Hodge now plays for the Hawks.
4.5 - Reiwoldt - Couldn't separate these two. Unbeatable in one-on-one marking contests and is just so smart in how he positions himself. Played a lone hand down in the forward line with another 6 goal haul and it shouldve really been 7 or 8.

3 - Martin - Shaping up for a monster game until his corky in the 2nd, but still played an instrumental role in the contsested situations and clearances. Blazed away a bit at times, but that composure will come with experience.

2 - Deledio - PLayed a really solid game. Went in hard and spotted up targets when many other players weren't

1 - Cousins - Showed some flashes of the old ben cousins weaving in between traffic and getting lots of ball in close

Honourable Mention - Tambling - Looked to be returning to somewhere near his best and like a few of the commentators mentioned had an 'almost' night where he constantly had hands on the ball, but couldn't break free.

Lids & Cotch were pretty good, nice to see us reasonably competitive with average input from both these stars.

Thought Tuck played pretty well, still a few times where the quick kick straight to the opposition was his first option when it should've been his last option.

Thought Simmo probably played his best game for last 1.5 seasons, farewell Troy :thumbsu:

Agree. his hardness was terrific. First real glimpse this year he might be heading back to his 09 form
