Hello, dear friends.
As you may know, eight of our most loveable posters have over the last month participated in a re-draft of Melbourne Football Club players.
And it's been heaps of fun.
HEAPS. OF. FUN.
To be eligible for selection, players had to have debuted for Melbourne between 1990 and 2020 inclusive. Our dear friend Proper Gander got away with a cheeky Jimmy Jordon (who debuted in 2021) selection.
The idea for the eight participants was to draft the best possible team from eligible players, keeping a few things in mind:
- The Daniel Cross rule: players are only considered on their playing contributions specifically to the Melbourne Football Club - so only 39 of Daniel Cross' 249 games (the Melbourne ones), for example, would be considered for the purpose of this exercise.
- The longevity rule: within reason, longevity isn't really considered - so we're considering players at their best for Melbourne.
Now, this is where the real fun begins. And I can't emphasise enough how much fun it will be.
We're kicking off an eight-team knock-out competition between the selected teams, and we need YOU (yes, you) to vote. Such fun!
I will post the eight complete teams in the coming posts, plus some nifty little pieces of trivia from the draft. Throughout the course of the next [insert whatever you think is an appropriate timeframe, because I don't know how long this will take], I'll update the poll in this thread so that we can vote on each match-up.
That will continue until we have our ULTIMATE WINNER.
Just - I really can't emphasise how much fun this will be.
