The most important thing for all of us to do is check with the club that you are registered to vote:)

If you don't vote you aren't having your say. I thought I was registered, but it seems I wasn't so it really is important to check:thumbsu:

That is something we need to change all financial members should automatically be eligible to vote. This having to check all the time to make sure you are registered is a pain in the butt:thumbsdown:

Just noticed on the Carlton web site that our memebership numbers are up on the nice to have, which is great and I believe a lot of this has to do with the recruits, however it is fairly dramatic increase in numbers, so it can mean only one thing Smorgan and co are in big trouble. I would like to hear some theories on this one. Is it the recruits or the upcoming board elections.

I think Smorgon is in big trouble:D , but the numbers have been good for a number of reasons not related to Smorgon:)

The draft, the re-instatement of the drip feed payment option, an earlier mail out, those getting back on board after the disappointment of the false dawn, the fact that on-field we can see a light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train coming in the other direction:D
Might explain all these powerbrokers wanting to jump on-board, which would indicate we actually are moving forward:)

Make sure you are registered. Just give the club a call
I saw that too. I wonder if that means that a lot of those 12,000 memberships are people getting back on board after a break. That would be fantastic if it was.

You only need to be a paid up 2006 member, registered with voting rights, to vote. You won't need your 2007 membership to do it.

I think you need to be joined up for 2007 to be eligible to vote
It strikes me as odd that you'd need to be signed for 2007 to vote in what is the 2006 AGM, but I'm prepared to be corrected. I'm pretty sure that's how it worked at the 2005 AGM in March 2006.

Hi all - Hopefully this will clear some confusion for people. I emailed the club about my enrolment & this is the reply I received yesterday. FYI, I have been a member for several years, but yet to re-sign for 07. Names in email deleted to protect the innocent.

Hi

We do have you registered to vote at the AGM in February, however only signed up members for 2007 can vote.

If you wanted to vote you would need to become financial.

So basically, I am registered, but need to be financial for 2007. I will be signing up next week. All of you who have an opinion on this fiasco, sign up & register pronto.

I stand corrected. I'm also rather surprised - that means we have only 12,000 potential voting members, and apparently only 3,000 of them are registered. That and a total of ~30k members in 2006 means that's the equivalent of 10% of the potential voting population.

If government elections were decided on 10% turnouts democracy would be in huge trouble. It's numbers like this that make for unrepresentative outcomes.

Here's hoping we get a result we can all live with.

I rang the club this afternoon and asked if I was registered to vote. I was told I wasn't, so the club is going to send out something for me to sign and i'll be registered.

I would encourage every one of you to check with the club on this matter, as we all have opinions on the future direction of the club, and this is our say in which way the club goes.
