But us playing at etihad would of gave us the edge. Playing at the MCG was neutral territory. Not a home final for us. As i said that win under our belt would of gave us the confidence to match hawks at the MCG. Can't wait for next year. So what am i gonna do now. I hate cricket :(

MCG neutral territory, a melbourne-based team vs. Adelaide?

Haven't slept a wink yet, still just gutted by the result. Just saw the replay of that last 3 minutes, football is such a game of inches, Hunter hits crameri with that handball and we win the game, he just misses and we lose it.

It has been an amazing year, almost the best i can recall having not expected much. It still just guts me though that i've seen so many finals like this now where we have had our chances, won every statistic, been the better team and still found a way to lose. I know this team has nothing to do with past finals losses, i just really hope they learn what a massive opportunity they let slip because opportunities don't come around all too often. We have the best young list we have had in my entire life as a doggies supporter, but GWS and the like will also be climbing that ladder, so the club just has to make sure they don't rest on their laurels and they do everything in their power to improve themselves once again. With Bev at the helm i'm very confident they will.

It certainly is a long time between seasons, made worse by the fact that i just don't have the same passion for any other sports like i do with the dogs. But time will fly by no doubt, after 9 years in China i'm moving back next year so can't wait to be at the games and hopefully see us push on later in September. Great measured posts here by the vast majority of people, we are a special breed who certainly stick together us doggies supporters. Thanks for a great year, the BF forum makes my weeks go by a lot quicker.

I love how all the youth and others all saying we will be better next year but history shows you that for a long time our fans have been saying this
We will be better next year 1985
We will be better next year 1997
We will be better next year 1998
We will be better next year 2006
We will be better next year 2009
We will be better next year 2010

The stone cold reality is that we haven't won a important crucial final in 30 years and as team we choke in every major final We must change that until we do that we just a bunch of schmucks

You've played on the MCG more times than us in the past 3 years. That's what he was getting at.

All the talk about next year and on terrifies me. I hope the players learnt tonight that it ain't just gonna happen - you have to make it happen. And that is from game 1 next season and every game after that. I'm certainly not assuming we'll have a better year than this. I HOPE we do, but can't just assume. That's the scariest thing. Who knows what other clubs are going to make a massive improvement as well. Every season is different. Got to take your chances when you get them. Saying that, 2015 is now over. 2016 begins now. But don't assume anything!

and if the crows had finished 6th this is how it would go

It would have been played at their home ground and tickets are sold to their members and we would have got get a few thousand tickets to purchase

What happens to us last night we play our final at a neutral ground and sell nearly 20 thousand tickets to crow fans taking away any slight advantage we have

Geez we got ****ed over

One moment I have (And you had to be there live) when Jake kicked his goal in the last I have never in my life heard a Bulldogs crowd go as mental as that. It was deafening and I legitimately lost hearing for about 10sec. Amazing Moment in a heartbreaking night

Watched Bev's presser and feel much better.

We're in a great position. We have a club with good people locked in (Gordon, Beveridge, Dal & JMac). Our best players are in their early 20s and still yet to peak. Add Libba, Stevens, Boyd, Roughy, JJ and hopefully Smith back into the mix and we have a scarily competitive best 22. Visibility is on the rise, membership up, new sponsor opportunities on the horizon. We're in it for the long haul and we're hungry for success. Build a dynasty.

We were better in 1998 than we were in 1997 ;) Minus the prelim.... anyway....

I really don't think you can apply our clubs history to this group of players. Yes as a club we have a tendency to fail in finals, but the hope is this side will provide a generation of success in September. They seem to, much like Geelong recently, be keen to write their own history and until they don't we need to give them the benefit of the doubt. They're still extremely young and they've exceeded the expectations of us all this year... now is the time to support them and the club without letting our past get in the way.

I know we just lost the most important game of the season and people myself included are hurting but some of the commentary directed at players who all busted their balls last night is crazy…

First and foremost Adelaide are a dam good side and far more experienced than us specially in the midfield where the game was always going to be won and lost. You only have to look at the last 10 minutes to see how strength and nous made a huge difference.

Lets not forget it was the first final for over 90% of our team, we had players who never played at the G before. It would have been the biggest crowd that most would have played in yet despite all of that had we managed to beat them in just about every major stat that matters in a game of footy except for the score board and had we converted a few more opportunities would have won.

There is a reason experience is so valued in finals, you simply can’t manufacture it, you can’t replicate it, it has to be lived and learnt…… Mistakes which were made by all in sundry last night are part of the process, we play a daring brand of footy which we all love and the risk of making a blew is intensified even more so under finals pressure…. We are not the same team that wore our jumper in the 80s/90s/2000s. This team will forge it’s own chapter regardless of what has transpired before hand, our coach, president and captain will ensure it’s the best we can be.

I wasn't going to peak at this thread. Am still bitterly disappointed and we have the next 6 months to review this game.

Am really proud of what the club has achieved off the back of a crap off season.

The true test of their worth will be in how we respond next year. Whether we lose the exuberance of youth because we know how badly it hurts to lose, or we harness that and use it as a stepping stone to get better.

Did you happen to watch Adelaide v West Coast in round 22. Best performance of any club this year.

West coast traditionally play badly in Adelaide and you were on your own dung heap. If you had beaten them like that in Subiaco now that would have been impressive.

We don't need his crap, these kids are not responsible for past losses, ffs they were not even born then Maybe it is pessimistic supporters like you who let history weigh us down

Go easy. After 50 years of supporting the dogs it's tough to shake the personal baggage. If you believe your own post then the players/Club aren't influenced by the past at all, so they shouldn't be affected. However let those of us who have been let down so many times vent a little. We feel like we are cursed! Did anyone see any supporter wearing the red gurnsey? If there was one in the crowd maybe that was the thing that brought us bad luck, lol.

Bloody hell. This group of kids are absolutely different to our previous finals sides. They are much younger and less experienced for starters, which was a huge downfall for us last night.
We came this far during a confessed development year full of experimentation of players, structures and game plans. Players were constantly thrown in foreign positions and reliable players were left out of the side (minson).
We came this far without a hugely fearful spine, particularly a big kpf, ruck and chb.
I am getting excited typing this as we have people in list management positions that I know will be doing their darnedest to rectify it this offseason and over the next few.
I have the same concerns as some about us doing a port Adelaide, no one can answer that we will just have to wait and see. Right now we can be content, something us dogs supporters haven't felt often.

Just popped online to say that 12 hours or so later it still hurts so bad.

I was just gutted last night and still feel pretty much the same. I think it's all the missed opportunities that make it hurt so much. I just keep going back to that missed handball at the end and thinking what if.....

Ah well, hopefully next year
