That was a long train ride home. The march to the g was awesome and peter gordans speech inspiring. Well done to the club for the initiative to organise that.

Now...
everyone gets a free vent pass this weekend to say what ever they like. No matter how stupid like some of the previous comments. Ill probably have a few too. We just didnt deserve that result, fook the footy gods.

Umpires were no issue tonight.

Adelaide supporters near me were all good. They play great footy as we do, both deserve to play next week.

I really hate when people say don't worry. Your young and will have plenty of opportunities. F that, we have to take every chance we get. I bet port supporters were thinking the same last year.

We need to bring in quality , not quantity. We don't need fringe players, we need kpf, kpd, ruck upgrades.

Crameri, stringer are goal kickers they have license to shoot.

Hamling is a gun, never makes a mistake just like morris.

Being so sad made me last longer during sexy time. Really not sure if that's good or bad.
Umpires no issue? How can you say that?

They got a free for us holding the ball, when it was clearly high and almost took his head off. They got a goal out of that free (could of been the winning goal).

Umpiring was disgusting imo

The ball was over the line and not called.

Pathetic umpiring imo

So, what about Stringer guys? Played unfit? A definite argument to suggest the match committee stuffed up playing him especially if Bevo said he was doubtful all week. He just wasn't at his magical best.

Agree with ^^^Professor. Boyd still has marking issues. Fluffed some again in the VFL yesterday. Aside from the marking issue, it's his attitude which is a little concerning to me. He had an opportunity to take an AFL spot, but didn't appear to have the desire to do so. Just looked like he was going through the motions. He needs a mentor, a marking coach and possibly a whack because it's not just going to happen for him.

Dicko got an incredibly soft one 20 out from goal in the third. I don't think they were the difference but it frustrated the hell out of me that they can't bounce the bloody thing - there must have been about 6 recalls.

He injured himself in the first 5 minutes of the game, it wasn't an injury he came into the game with. Just an infortunate incident that goes down into one of the many reasons we lost

Grant was pretty good. Big tackle in Q2 that led to a goal and kicked a 50m set shot in the last. Sure he's not the most talented but always put in every week, why do supporters dislike him so much?

Only thing Grant needs to be a very good player is someone to work on his kicking technique.

Thought the umpiring was fine. Although I'd like to see that potential in the back from Walker that led to their winning goal again. Half way through the second quarter on the replay ;)

Bev said in the presser he went into the game with some tightness.

So when Bevo said he was doubtful during the week it was for a different injury?

I loved the Bonti chant. We need more of it. Since coon-dog left we have nothing that gets the entire ground cheering as one (cooooons). Bulldogs "clap clap clap" doesn't really cut it inspirationally and "doggie doggie doggie woof....." Well, enough said. The entire supporter base got behind that Bonti encouragement. Great stuff. We were only just louder than the crows in my opinion with a hell of a lot more red, white and blue around the ground.

After he kicks the goal. You have no idea how much added pressure something like that brings!

It used to happen with Carey too. When the Carey chant would come and the supporters would hail, he missed a lot of easy set shots.

Bevvo said the defenders in the first quarter especially were too adventurous and ball watched etc. That hurt us and allowed them back in the game

Also, the powers that be need to campaign hard for as many MCG games that we can get. This will hold the group in good stead

Can't fault the effort from the boys. I'm proud of them.
Although I have a renewed hatred of
Adelaide now. I'm gonna enjoy it over the next few years as we mature and the boys metaphorically stomp on their heads every time we play them.

Still very disappointed the next morning.

As far as our overall season goes I'm very proud.

But last night we should have won. I could cop losing to a better team, but they aren't better than us.

Looking at this year in isolation I can get why opposition supporters are saying all these nice things and that we will win big finals in the future, but im sure like all of you I lived thru the disappointment of our run in the late 90s and 00s so I know having ability doesn't ensure you have success.

I took my GF to the game, her first year going for the dogs or even liking football.

She was devastated and blamed me for making her like football and add all this extra stress to her life going for the dogs haha. Told her she better get used to it!

Shout out to Jack Macrae, had a great game. And Hamling and Biggs who I have been a bit critical of.

Dislikes
Roberts was bad, don't see how others can disagree, if it was Talia people would tearing into him. I know we don't have many options but with the style we play we need better one on one players as it comes in so fast and I just don't think Roberts is up to it. Hope I'm wrong

Hunters handball. He had a game but that was the match. Even if Crameri missed its a draw and the ball is in our end.

Our crowd. So quiet while the crows were so loud. Need to make the most of our advantage and we didn't.

People keep on saying what a great game it was but I didn't enjoy it

It was too close

and...

we can play better than that. Quite a lot better. It wasn't one of our better performances of the year. We were tired; only played in bursts; woeful goal kicking; made some poor decisions.

Well done to the crows but we are better than that.

Well done Eddie Betts, you'll get all the press coverage. But this man is just as good a player:

I didn't cry at the end but I did get a little emotional when this bloke kicked his fifth.
Stand up tall Tory.
To think of where he's come from, to this.....he personifies our journey.
First Bulldog player to kick 5 in a final for 17 years apparently

Just want to pop in and say condolences and congratulations to you guys.

Obviously the result last night was disappointing, but you played a hell of a game, and you've had a fantastic season; which nobody could have predicted. Once the disappointment wears off, the appreciation for just how good a year you've had should make you pretty content.

We both really screwed ourselves by losing last week - I would've preferred we played anyone but you guys, I wanted to see us both go deep.

You've got a quality list, and an incredibly impressive coach - hopefully this year is the start of some sustained finals footy and success for the Dogs.

Cheers guys.

You need to watch us more, the WCE, Rich, Syd, Freo and unfortunately the StK games earlier in the season were just as good. Unfortunately ch 7 and the AFL seem to want to hide us on Foxtel though.

I thought Hunter (especially in the first half) was good. One missed handball and people are on his back.

Two people I was really worried about going into the game were Biggs and Hamling, I think they both played pretty well.

Grant was Grant. If we want to be a top 4 team next season he doesn't play 15+ games. Unless he pulls his finger out.

Dale Morris was awesome that last quarter.

(This is going to sound hypercritical after what I said about Hunter...) I still don't rate crameri. It's so frustrating to see him just bomb it most times he gets it. Or if he's within 60m have a ping. The one play were he had Wallis open for a handball but kicked it long to the square had me pulling my hair out. Has tunnel vision for the goals.

Well, I've been up a few hours and I must say I'm feeling much better. When I think back on the season, I'm so grateful that the boys completely exceeded our expectations pre-season. The previous three seasons were hellish for me. I didn't look forward to the weekend because I basically knew what was coming. This year was different. At a time I really needed a distraction from my life here, the Doggies gave me something to look forward to every weekend.

As many of you know I am still here as I took on the responsibility of being caregiver for my late father and my mother. Mum is still with us, but the doctor said that she is slowly wearing down and will rejoin my father some time in the next few months most likely. I now have to provide 24/7 care and have little time to myself. The footy this season was my great distraction from my life here. For the first time since Rocket left, I looked forward to every weekend and was absolutely thrilled with the performance of the team. It took my mind off the difficulties here at home. I have never felt so confident that a Premiership is around the corner more than I am now. I just hope I'll be around to see it.

So thank you to Bev, Bob and the entire team for giving this one distant supporter a most wonderful summer.

I guess I'm lucky because my Cubs have also played beyond expectations. It's been a doubly fun summer because of the two teams I love the most. Hopefully I'll also still be around when the Cubbies attain the ultimate.

I continue to live in hope. :D
Sincere thanks for sharing that. I now realie why you maybe back in Melbourne next year.

You superbly put on paper what this club means to thousands of people.

And to those bagging jong, geez, the kid thrived on finals intensity. Gve me a break.

Just saw this on a Facebook comment, pretty disappointing how inaccurate we have been in our last few finals
Eliminated with these scores:
08 - 7.12
09 - 7.14
10 - 8.16
15 - 14.18

Disappointed but not devastated.
Haven't read any posts on this thread so don't know others analysis. re Roberts: He was physically no match for Walker which was predictable. What we were unable to prevent, and what the Crows were successfully able to engineer, was the frequent isolation of Fletch in one on one contests with Walker. That was costly for us and we didn't seem able to get a third man to help him often enough, so credit to the Crows there.
For all that, like Sydney in the game prior, we created more than enough scoring opportunities and if we'd kicked straight we'd have won.
