We were primed and ready in 2015 and were playing 7th place in a home final - right here and now we are a better team than Adelaide, and we should have won on Saturday night. Indeed we would have done so had we shown composure late, in the ice-cool way that Taylor Walker did - sound familiar? I don't think any team in the history of the competition could have +20 in clearances, +10 inside 50's, ahead in CP's, +40 in UP's, +18 in tackles, get to 100 points first (teams that do this win 98% of matches) and still find a way to lose a final. Only the Dogs could do that - if there is a way to somehow manufacture a heartbreaking/gallant loss in a final, we'll find a way. We own the patent on this - it's what we do unfortunately :(

I know we're young and there is much to look forward to, but these finals losses when we are the better team on virtually every statistical measure except the final scoreboard sting like hell. Winning a tight final like Saturday night would have been immeasurably beneficial to this young group, and we should have. It's a brutal assessment on the young group but it's not the slightest bit unfair. And it will take a long 12 months, and much incredibly hard work, just to be able to get the chance to possibly be there again. What will we do next time a final is on a knife-edge? History is not kind to us on that score.
Wow you have summed up my emotions from the weekend word for word. Absolutely proud of what we achieved in getting there given where we came from, but you have nailed it completely.

My only consolation is those smart****, arrogant Crows supporters (and there are many).

I had to tolerate some particularly offensive types behind me on Saturday night.

if you look at who beat us on Saturday night (and I do acknowledge we lost to a better team) it was primarily

Tex Walker - from Broken Hill
Eddie Betts - Templestow
Dangerfield - Anglesea
Talia - Greenvale
Rory Sloane - Upwey

Pride of south Australia - yeah right!.

as long as you dont actually let anyone from SA play in the team you will continue to do ok.

Just saw this on a Facebook comment, pretty disappointing how inaccurate we have been in our last few finals
Eliminated with these scores:
08 - 7.12
09 - 7.14
10 - 8.16
15 - 14.18
Yes it was one of the main causes for the loss. But those figures actually show a good trend - 14/32 is 44% accuracy - the others are 33% or so. :rainbow: Maybe it was nerves but at least Bont should be better in that regard in future. Harder to excuse Grant and Crameri's innacuracy but hopefully we will be better at standing up to finals pressure next time.

Still feeling disappointed but remember how stoked we were when Bulldogs smashed Collingwood in the 2006 final? Perhaps our future looked brighter at the time but it was Collingwood who went on to win the premiership in 2010. Time is on our side :)

Hey what team would you rather be? Exciting talented extremely young team with the future in Front of us, or old under-achieving with their best player rumoured to be leaving?

Rumoured? isn't it pretty much unofficially confirmed!? AFL have shot themselves in the foot tbh. If they allowed an announcement to be made that he will be leaving at the end of the year, then Crows could start plannng etc. Now Danger is forced to play the silence game, which we all know is his way of announcing he is leaving. TBH though, i rate Sloane more than Danger, Sloane was killing us single handedly at some points on Saturday night. Danger only stepped up late.

I can see Danger sticking around

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Hunter was superb. I'll regret watching us squander several easy shots for goal more than I'll rue an errant handball in the dying moments of a high stakes final.
Didnt help that Crameri tried to hold the ball and take on two when Grant was free and just had to get it over. If it was Caleb, Dahl, Mitch Honey they would have given Grant an easy run in goal. What ifs...

We will win at least one final next season. 100% bookmark it, it's happening, no doubt, hope, faith etc. So many factors to propel us further next season that I'm confident will happen. Still a looooong way to go obviously, ask Port.

Kinda glad Bevo was pissed off in the presser, has kept his emotions in all year
This will drive him to make this club go further
If you are as a team plus around 45 in possession , plus 20 in clearances
and plus 10 in inside fifty i for one would be pissed off if Bevo did not
show total displeasure with the performance. We peaked about five weeks ago and unfortunately limped into the finals in both the VFL and AFL this
is easily explained by our age profile and hence is no big deal.

Lets face it. Grant is never accurate finals or no finals. Really it was Crameri who has had experience and is normally a decent set shot

To those still struggling to stomach saturday nights result, ponder this for a moment:

We [should] have for at least 10 more years the likes of Bont, Macrae, Wallis, Libba, Dahl, Stringer, Boyd (just to name a few) playing together at or above this level. This is not a 3 or 4 year window. Its a 10 year window!

Tried to watch the replay. Made it halfway through the first quarter then made myself sad again.

The wound is still too fresh :(
I turned it off when stringer kicked his second goal

Its a 10+ year window
The amount of talent and staff at the club, we wont drop off we will keep bringing in gun players
I see bevo being a 20+ year coach

old under-achieving?
if you wanna know the facts, the Adelaide team that played you on Sat. night in the EF was YOUNGER, by average, than your team...

if you wanna know the facts, the Adelaide team that played you on Sat. night in the EF was YOUNGER than you lot, by average!

Incorrect, but thanks for trying.

There is no guarantee that we will improve next year. Our fixture will be tougher.

But it really comes down to whether the players continue to work hard and show the hunger to improve. If they do, I'm confident we will improve. If they just sit back and expect it to happen (Port this year?), then we're in for a rude shock.

I'm confident that Beveridge can set right tone in the off season. The theme needs to be 'be proud, but not content' or something along those lines.

Your unintelligence is showing. Take it away from here!

don't care about your stupid table which probably represents the squads, and not the 22 chosen for the EF.
Read somewhere and cannot find it now that our average age that took the field Sat. night was younger than your side
The table is for the 22. Link something that is false and we can go enlighten them too.
