I think it's awesome how anxious everyone is for Justin Clarke and probably how relieved we all are it's just 1 week.

We got ourselves a CHB for 10 years (Touch Wood), would take this boy over Lachlan Henderson every week because he has the aggression we need to win a premiership.

As for Sauce, well the rule was looked at immensely last year and was always going to get 2-3 weeks.

His bad record came back to haunt him here but his form this year hasn't been top notch, so this is that kick in the bum he needed more then likely.

Well that's disappointing to miss our best defender for 3 weeks. Couldn't have come at a better time with Maguire back from injury.
In current form I feel Patfull is our best 'defender'.

It is disappointing to lose your FB for 3 weeks though, hopefully Goose comes back in.

Whoops, yeah you are right GG, I read the bit that said "his 3 match sanction must remain at 3 matches even with a guilty plea" and figured that 3 weeks was the maximum he would get if he contested it.

No hope for Merrett to contest that one... Did the wrong thing, got what he deserved. Took a player out for 1 or possibly 2 games.

Disappointed Clarkes wasn't more.

Two very poor acts from two very careless players.
Neither was that bad, losing merret for 3 weeks for a win over essendon- well worth it

He tackled a player who he thought had the ball. If that's the wrong thing, might as well stop tackling altogether. It was unfortunate the way it happened, but that's footy.

Dissapointed Clarke wasn't more? He came a fraction of a second late, and braced for impact. You're lucky he didn't target the face, and only went for the shoulder.

Merrett's was reckless and deserved his 2 weeks off (Only got 3 because of his poor record).

Clarke's was late but wasn't malicious and deserved his 1 week, even though in my eyes there is nothing wrong with your young key CHB showing some bloody aggression.

No poor acts in my eyes, though Merrett's tackle was reckless, clumsy and stupid.

I consider that Clarke dropped his shoulder so he didn't hit Kav in the head when he realised he was arriving too late.

Merrett was only graded as negligent, so it was barely a sling-tackle and it was only Hurley being too careless to look after his own head that sees him rubbed out for three weeks.

You should be delighted. Unless you think Kavanagh is a dud. Only reason he would have got more is if he ended his game or injured him for weeks.

Whats the go with Goose, are we a chance to get him back this week?
I hope so he was named for the ressies but didn't play, it will be good to get a game into him against Carlton to warm him up for cloke next week

Just watched them both again, Merrett had both arms of Hurleys and sling tackled him into the ground. It's against the rules and he deserved to go. I'm all for strong tackles but obviously the sling is dangerous. Hence it was a very poor act.

Just watched the Clarke one and hard to argue he just braced for impact. Watch the video, he comes in clearly late, never went for the ball, only the man, and actually moves forward in the motion to take out Kav rather than just brace for the impact. Could've done some serious damage.

Obviously I'm annoyed because they are Essendon players and everyone makes mistakes, but both certainly deserved to go.

Fair enough I spose. Merrett needed a kick up the bum, he has been acting like a bit of a silly as of late.

Lucky we're playing Carlton next week as opposed to say, West Coast or something.

Actually he was negligent if you read the MRP statement......but lets not get bogged down in the detail

Sorry to intrude......I couldnt find anything on the main board.

In short.....they are both in trouble.
Merrett is looking at 3 or 4 weeks (pre early plee) I would suggest - depending on his record.
He had both his arms pinned, and Hurley head hit the ground pretty hard.
The key will be if the MRP deem the sling to be a second motion, and after looking at the footage a few times, I think the slinging motion will be construed as a second motion.

Clarke will get charged with Charging or Rough Conduct......I suspect charging
Maybe 2 weeks after early plee......because he was so late, it is hard to justify that he had intent for the ball. I dont think there was any high contact, but certainly it was a high impact collision.

Not sure if they are the answers you want to hear, but I suspect that might be the reality of the situation.
Time will tell on Monday I guess.

Otherwise, a good win today for the Lions over the Essendon pretenders.

Thanks, but just to know where we stand, how have your predictions with MRP faired in the past ?

Can I chalk that one down as a win......

Hey did you catch what the scores were at the end of the game :D
Ryder's poor act on luke Mc Pharlin help you guys beat freo, no difference

:D Yeah the bloke with his arms pinned being dumped into the turf should have looked after his head more. Really?

FWIW I reckon Clarke is bloody stiff. Thought it was pretty average live but watching the replays other then being late there really wasn't a hell of a lot in it.

Rog has been building up to something like this for a while.
Been a very angry man.:(
Hopefully we can cover him.

Young Clarke will learn from this I guess ,but gee he is a terrific prospect .:thumbsu:
Old head, on young shoulders, bet Vossy loves him

Yep, Clarke a bit stiff, but shouldn't be surprised by either of those outcomes. With Merrett you could maybe argue that the arms weren't pinned too hard, but he was placed in a position and spun in such a way that Hurley wasn't going to be able to protect himself, therefore concussion, therefore suspension.

Merrett's aggression has been really good this year and I hope that this doesn't discourage him (can't see that happening though), but he does need to cop his whack.
