Schack drops too many marks he should take is about all it comes down to. Similar to Tom Boyd in that respect, IMO - does the work of getting to the right spot, gets both hands to the ball, but most times cant complete the catch under pressure.

Im not sure an extended run in the seniors is going to fix that.
I agree and that’s why he will never be a star but the one thing Schach has over Boyd is he’s a much better mover and probably a bit smarter with his forward craft too so he tends to find a decent amount of easy ball inside 50 which Boyd could never do at any level really.

35-40 goals would be his limit but there’s a role for that in certain teams. For example if you put him in Brissys current side alongside Daniher & McStay I think he’d have just as much impact as Hipwood

I wonder how many times this year Sullivan has NOT been in our top 3 ranked players?
Not many I'd expect. And this in a side loaded with AFL-listed players.

He looks to be an even stronger contender than McComb who was dominant for Footscray last year ... and McComb has managed 13 senior games for the Western Bulldogs this year. Another lazy 33 possessions (17 contested) plus a goal in today's outing.

I know we joke about our mandatory VFL list draftee each year but surely Sullivan (24yo) has earned a spot on someone's list. No guarantee it'll be ours either.

Top 3 in 11 of his 17 matches...

Schache at VFL level is very different to the player at Senior level. In the former, he is able to mark without the pressure of body on body contact from much stronger opponents. This, to me has been his biggest weakness throughout his career: lack of physical strength in a contest.
Keep in mind that VFL key backs are often younger and smaller rookie types who can't match Schache's height and experience.
Further, at AFL level, key forwards are much more likely to be double-teamed in aerial contests and their job becomes that much harder.
An opposite perspective could be argued I suppose, that Schache is now a more confident, physically stronger player than we've seen before and therefore deserves another chance at the higher level. Unfortunately, the club has decided that there's been too many misses in his career and he has no future here. On balance, I think that is the right call.

Do people think we'll try to draft Sullivan?

Personally I think he's 100% vfl and is a similar to a Mitch Honeychurch / Andrew Hooper type and would make McComb look like Treloar.

No from me.

I like Sullivan more than McComb but I like a spare list spot for the MSD more than both.

It can he hard to be patient. Think people like Taberner, Hickey from Sydney - ex Hawtgorn ruck at Geelong, Witts etc can develop into handy players post 25 if they are given patience and show things in flashes.

Sweet and Schache could be these. I reckon both will make decent players but not necessarily stars. We need players like them in that 25-50 age bracket who can play a role. Particular in areas without much depth - ie 200cm+
