Unfortunately some bad decision making, put us even more under the pump.

Welsh playing on in the first, Shirley's shocker in the 3rd and Mattner's miss. He we been that bit closer then maybe we could have pinched it.

The 2 biggest concerns were Brad Green getting so much of the ball and our second quarter where we looked pathetic.

Reilly has rehurt his ankle and Perrie has a shoulder injury.

If Perrie is out I would expect K Mac to come in next week and possibly Jericho for Radar. Porps imo was great today, thommo terrible

Mattner was also moved up the ground to the half back line that runs in off the wing instead of deeper like normal. He provided some great run. On the plus side is that we didn't drop our bundle we did actually fight back but I hope they are hurting like mad and they have to front up the auction in melbourne tonight as well.

A bit harsh on Thommo, he had Godfrey wearing him like a glove who has been excellent this year as a run with player and every time he got the ball he was tackled by at least two Melbourne players. When Reilly went off it put more on Thommo to deliever and Melbourne knew that he was going to get teh ball so they just sweated off him.

He moved Stevens to the forward line in the last qtr which was a good move, seemed to be the only one capable of taking a lead up mark.

I think he changed things quite a lot during the game.

That said I would've moved either Johncock or Mcleod forward. Our forward line is simply not dynamic enough to continue to have the luxury of these two in the backlines.

I have to say that I agree as well, Thommo was moved up forward to break the tag. Griff and Stevens went forward. He move Roo to CHF. He did make some changes.

Is it just me or was the Jericho omission ALWAYS going to bite us in the arse and be a "what might have been"...watch as rooch jumps on this one...

Really no point. What's done is done. Craigy has to anaylse why there was only one team turned up to play footy today. And with now a plethora of additional injuries, Jericho will make his way back into the side... along with McGregor and someone else. Have we even got enough players???

It was harsh, but you have to be able to play good footy when getting tagged. Too easy to become a passenger when the going gets tough and say "well I was getting tagged"

Oh I'm not saying that I think Jericho should have played, but when I saw he was dropped and the headline "Rotten Luke"...I just knew this was going to be seen as a terrible decision, and low and behold we struggled to kick goals so much will probably be made of it...*sighs*...

I hate comment's like these - if we had of kicked those the ball goes back to the centre for a bounce, Melbourne might have taken it straight out and kicked a reply. It's too much an unknown to claim they would have been the difference

Griff went forward? I saw him plugging up the back lines (spare man in defence). A very defensive move when we definitely needed to be attacking. I agree with Dyertribe - a touch of Ayres haunting us through that game.

Easy there bigfella.

Yeah I am more chilled now :o

Very simple today, we played a team that wanted it more, we fumbled it way too much and couldnt kick or handball to a chest we have a feet fascination today!

Oh well.

Yeah besides Birdman Adelaide was pretty much at full strength today.

Jericho will come back in, but even playing him might not have changed anything. Then you would have had the media cruicifying Adelaide for not playing Roo if we lost. Its always a catch 22 and you're damned if you do and damned if you dont.

Too true Nikki. It's too late for what if's. Hope the boys are hurting like hell and are dreadfully humble when they face their adoring fans tonight!

Ok... it took him 2 quarters to do something. I don't know but that seems way too long for my liking.

Not true, he made plenty of moves to the midfield during the 2nd and 3rd qtrs when we were getting smashed. They didn't work, because they didn't work they weren't noticed.

You make decisions in footy, you gotta live by them. If we had have won, there'd be no questions. Because we didn't AND the way we didn't means that questions rightfully need to be asked. However, it is a pointless exercise in many respects, because it won't change the outcome.

Agreed.

Let's just hope it was simply one of those days.

I thought towards the end of the game some of Stiffy's run and evasion out of the backlines was very good. Almost back to his best (which is very good)

Ah but just maybe we could have had BOTH of them in the side??? We have not been kicking a shit load of goals this year, so having a more attacking side certainly couldn't have hurt! Anyways, no point now. Glad to see Roo got through the game unscathed. Guess we will see what it's like having Roo and Jericho in the same team next week!

I do too Nikki - the last two games will be good for him. Porps has looked top notch both games so that is one good thing to come out of it at least.

I'm going to ignore stats when giving the votes on thsi board. When we were down and struglling there was one man that was giving 110%.

Jason Porplyzia

Brilliant effort from the lad today.

Hook. Line. Sinker. :thumbsu:

I didn't see Porps in the second quarter though - he went missing then, just like most of the others

Sounds weird, but it was just "one of those games" today. If we lost last week I would have been far more annoyed than I am with us losing today. We just weren't in it today, mentally and physically - our tackling is an issue.

6W 4L and we aren't playing very well. 5W 5L after 10 games was a realistic aim after Round 1, so I'm not too depressed. No one thought we would beat Brisbane and we won convincingly. Everyone thought we would beat Melbourne, and we lost. Them's are the breaks of the AFL.
