Autopsy vs Melbourne Rd23

The inconsistency of our players makes it hard for our footy dept. One week we smash Port in clearances and contested ball - next week the 17th place side cleans us up in the same areas.

We'll finish 11th or so and today we looked about that good. Hard to see what needs to be done sometimes but some quality small high half forwards would help and also playing less of our one paced players. As much as Froggy has great endurance and is a good footballer, he is very slow. Others mids just run past him. Good player but we have too many one paced guys.

I don't think I've ever been so flat after a win. Melbourne are 17th for a reason and our midfield was smashed all afternoon. Where is the improvement going to come from? Struggling to see us rise above yet more mediocrity next year unless something happens out of the blue to fix our longstanding midfield issues.

Nothing like the side that played last week.

fu** playing games down there.
Then have you a plan to earn an extra $2 million of the gate at Victorian games? As our insipid supporter base won't attend games home or away maybe get the Candyman down from Surfers Paradise and bring his friends as he did play at our club even tho it was Reserves or better yet hire Ron Jeremy to make a porno about the club and on selling it to the Americans 😁

I know internally that rate Garner big time. Must be frustrating, hopefully it clicks next year

Externally anyone that doesn't rate Garner knows NOTHING about footy.

My question can a new coach with our list , which has many strengths , get us where we want to be ? Or do we need a massive cleanout.

Needs to be a cleanout.

We got deadwood out the ass on this team, and the balance isn't correct. I see no spot for Wood in this team anymore if Garner is to be persisted with.

I don't see Turner as a small forward.
I have no idea where Hrovat fits other than depth at best.
Do we trade McKay out for some picks? Durdin is clearly preferred by Shaw.

Maybe a few more question marks around others.

Yep, was very dependable, made good decisions and executed them very well.

The only question mark is that he didn't really have a KPF opponent for most of the game.

I am going to be VERY interested to see how Durdin is travelling in about Round 4 or 5.

I reckon we will be going "OK, so Scooter hasn't left that big a hole after all"

Taylor's issue has never been his ability, it's his inability to get on the ground that is the issue.Next year he would need to play close to every game. Miss half the season we have to make a decision. You just can't have players living on hope and potential with little return. It is harsh but reality .

Traveling home from qld through the riviera region and caught the last quarter of the henty swampies keep the billabong crows at bay by 3 points. The game ob the radio was stk v swans so didnt get much continuity of the scores. Glad we got up but a little bothered bbb only kicked 2. If cameron plays he will kick a bag against the suns.

I wouldn't say massive cleanout, it needs a major cleanup though.

Unless we show some Herculean changes over the pre-season under Shaw, I think we need 3 years to clean the list up... assuming we can draft/trade well and develop much better than we have in the past.

Turner in defence, yeah like that if it means moving Ats up the field.
Ziebell should be a rare burst player in the middle only.
Dumont not good enough for a Top 8 teams midfield. Players just burst by him.
Larkey now our most complete forward.
Finger crossed for Brown.

The umps were more off their game than the players. That was a lazy, lackadaisical performance - almost on autopilot. Gawn was gifted frees any time he meekly leaned his boof-head into Goldie, even if it was him who was pushing first at least half the time. The frees paid against Cunnington were called play on when it was him doing the tackling. Sure, we also got some soft ones and things probably evened out, but that isn't what should happen. The game was disjointed and clunky, in part because the umps were on holiday and doing it by the numbers.
Any chance Preuss and Gawn actually hold their marks before they are paid. Oliver and his throws, Andrew Jarman and Chris McDermott throw back.
