When was the last itme Melbourne won 2 in a row ? Wouldnt hold my breath with this one yet guys. In all seriousness we should be able to compete with the Demons but I cant see us getting within 20 points on our performances so far.

I'd still play Post up forward.

MT lost his marbles.:D

Post is still young & a KPP so it is going to take time, but from what I saw last night he needs to have a crack just like the majority of his team mates. He seemed half hearted last night, but hey the whole side played like that in the first half.

I think he is better suited to a forward line role, at the back I dont think reads the play well enough yet.

Was it Dwayne Russell?

That bloke hates Richmond with an absolute passion.

A few days Before the Dee`s played Collingwood, Healy asked him "if Richmond played Melbourne now, who would win" Russel said 'oh dont be stupid, Richmond by 7 goals easy" Its amazing how these journos change their opinion daily to suit the circumstances.

We are struggling to kick 9 goals a game.
Of course we will get smashed unless they play the runand carry game they started to play int he 2nd half against the Swans.
If they do this, it will be close.

Maybe but I'm not getting too carried away with our second half, we were 10 goals to 1 behind at that stage, the swans went into cruise control. Melbourne will want to smash us.

I pray to the footy gods that we start well get our confidence up and take away Melbourne's momentum. :thumbsu:

Hardwick has said all along it will take some time for the players to implement the game plan. I saw in the 2nd half fore the first time that they might be learning it.
Yeah we got smashed last night. I realise that. But at times int he 2nd half, we moved the ball and the Swans playewrs could only stand and watch.
We need to keep playing that style of footy. If we play that for 4 quarters this week, we will win.
Play it for less than 4 quarters and we will lose.

in a sick perverted way i want us to get beat next week. I want to see us go to hell first, toughen us up, we get a win and it just gives false hope to idiots who cant see the big picture. We're shit, very shit, the worst in the league by a mile atm, I want the club and all supporters to have no doubt about that sooner rather than later.

would rather see us win later on in the year with astbury, griffiths, dea playing and a fit midfield of cotcin with games under the belt, foley, martin and Lids. That's when I want to see us win, not against anther rabble like melbourne!

Extremely sick and perverted if you ask me tigerT. We're crying out for a bit of confidence and something that gives the players a bit of hope. Really we could have lost all 3 games by 80+ points so far.

I think we get the point that we're at the bottom and desperately need to improve. A loss to Melbourne wouldn't give the players any confidence going forward this year.

agree. These kids need to know what winning feels like and how infectious it can become. Anyone hoping we lose this week is not a supporter.

You still don't get it we won on the weaken against the Swans. You are perverted if you are concentrating on the score!!

The Swan are a finals side . they will make the eight I have no doubt.

We are focussing on a premiership in the future and in that regard we succeeded in that. Anything else is not seeing the woods for the trees!!!

First time I have said this in years and years, but for us to win this week we need the Demons to have an off game. They are in great form at the moment and it would not surprise me if we get rolled by 5+ goals, especially if they get 1 or 2 of their stars back

Edit - Krusty, I don't know if you have been watching the season so far, but from the first 3 rounds Melbourne are certainly not the spoon favorites.

Its not the attacking game plan that Dimma is focussing on. Tho i think he knows with a better forward line that things would have been quite different on the scoreline. In the first half, we had enough scoring shots.

Defensively, we are still allowing loose opposition players to damage us in the mid and forward 50, tho not as much as the game against Carlstank.

One of the things in the Saints Pies match is that they both struggled to make clear exits of their back 50's. Alot of kicks were to man on man, however it was the defending team that had the numbers to pick up the crumbs and keep it moving.

richmond should notch up its first win for the season against the wooden spoon favorites. they need to bring polak in.

what??? are we playing an intra club match? Or havent you been on this planet in the last few days..dude? we are raging red hot favs at $1.50 for the spoon and to get some more business going the bookies have now put up $1.90 for us to not win a game for the whole season....;)

would be nice for me to see a loss under 50 points.

would be even better for guys like Martin & Nason to experience a win and sing the club song for the first time.

hope Hardwick and the boys can manufacture a competitive effort and win!

go tiges :thumbsu:

.

well, I put this to you if it was Nick Riewoldt playing for us rather than Jack, I wonder what the scoreline would have been:confused:....we need a winning forward like death valley needs a good drop of rain

The game will be won and lost (for us anyway) with our use of the footy. Just butchered it on Saturday.

Defensive pressure needs to be better early in the match too.

Pressure and skills:thumbsu:

Nick on his own instead of Jack wouldn't drag us across the line ... Jack needs tall support up there Bo. He won't begin to come into his own until this happens. But it will take time to produce that support.

Is Thursty back?? Our backline should match up pretty well on the Dees smaller forwards, this will be a pleasant change considering our lack of bigger bodies back there.

In the middle we've been close to matching it with 2 final 8 teams over the first few weeks as far as clearences and Inside 50's go.

Our forwards will also get a chance to out body the smaller (in comparison to other teams) backline of the Dees.

The game will be won by the team that works the hardest. It's the pressure and willingness to work for 4 quarters that is evident in the Dees, if we can do that then we match up pretty well.

IMO our best chance of being competitive this week will be that fact that Melbourne have been up mentally for two weeks now. There is a fair chance they will relax a little this week.

If this is the case and we can get some things going our way early, we may well be competitive. I don't think Melbourne's personnel are that much better than ours, but the last two weeks they have certainly played more as a team, which is where they should have it over us.

Don't underestimate Frawley, (the better) Warnock and Grimes. They're becoming a pretty solid unit down back.

Yeah i'm not saying we'll be bigger than them, I just mean we won't be monstered like we were against the swans and Bullies. And they're not as good as the Swans and Dogs at dropping off their man just yet.

I rarely post on other team boards, but thought id have a look in the lead up to the game this weekend. First i can completely understand how you guys feel ive been a member for 12 years and have been to a lot of games over the past 3 years and seen some woeful stuff. But stick with it, it takes time to put a new side, coaching staff and game plan together.

Im just getting a little bit nervous into this week as you guys will be fired up to win (hope so anyway) and with a bit of field trouble we've seen sides respond to it before!

As for the match ups our backline has been our biggest strength over the past couple of years, last year we conceeded the third least points against for a wooden spoon side in a long time and this year we conceeded the third least points against. Our backline may not be physcially mature but they work very well as a back 6.

Jamar could be a handful in the ruck, winning the clearences will be crucial i think it will come down to whose forward line fires the best (as obvious as it sounds).
