Oh boy I can't wait to see what firstdogonthemoon has for us this week! Should be a cracker.

Stevens and Griffen were immense. And the first year players give you real confidence we have a future.

Some of the not so obvious:

When the game was on the line in the 4th and there were some really hard contests Libba showed real leadership in winning the hard ball thru strength and desperation. Really liked his 4th quarter when the game was on the line.

Nick Lower, he brings aggression, and real hardness to the side. Will never be Chris Judd, but he gives his all, has a presence, flies the flag and I think will continue to get better as the side gets better. Becoming one of my favourite players.

The coach is really developing a swingman role. It can be either Murphy, williams or roughhead, even Markovic. Gives us real options. This is something we never had in the Eade years.

Nope, very open guy. He said it in a slightly tongue in cheek sort of manner, but definately meant it. Is feeling flat with his injury. I understand where he's coming from. Got a lot of work to do to get back into that team

If Gary rohan gets his speed back, he is exactly the kind of player we need. Be happy to bring him back to Victoria in the red white and blue

watched the whole nt vs vic country game
and for country- merret, leslie, lang caught the eye and for nt- stokes and weasley-black were the only two I noticed that did a great deal for their side

his trade value is so weird, seems like the entire football community rates him highly, and acknowledges he has talent to burn yet he hasn't been shown all that much on field plus the uncertainty of how he'll go after the broken leg

Richo was #1 and Gary Dempsey 3rd for one season and 4th for another

Haven't seen the game yet but did JJ play well? Looking at the stats he had 23 diposals and 8 marks at over 90% efficiency. Is he any chance of a rising star soon?

I thought he was excellent. I gave him a vote in the Ching. Was a sneaky good game rather than a real standout performance. Used his speed well and used the ball a lot better than goodes when kicking out or rebounding from half-back

Just wanted to congratulate Dylan Addison on a good game. Credit where credit is due. I couldn't see the value in his selection but I was wrong. Best to stick with Macca selecting the side rather than letting me do it.

Stevens apparently only had 67% TOG. - how many players have gotten 30 disposals with only 2/3 game time?

I took note of that moment, too. He was spot on. I haven't been able to watch any other matches this season, but I was impressed with King's balanced and knowledgeable commentary.

Kingy also called NRoo out for being the only player to get cheap free kicks when going down at the slightest touch when bumped...

So exciting for the future. Steven's is still so young himself, only 22. All our youngsters played great games, but the boys we brought in this draft and trade period were all great. It does look like it will be a good year for us in that respect. Perhaps only Jones struggled tonight, there seems to be something amiss though there, he has played well this year, maybe he's a bit sore or is struggling to adapt to the ever changing forward line.

Gia and Boyd also responded to the criticism they've copped with aplomb.

I think having him down for preseason to film bits for Fox Footy has given him a better insight than most into the direction of the club. Knows a lot about the other new draftees too.

Only saw about the last 20 mins after work. Was a bit nuts by the end of the game and a few celebratory bourbons, too. So much for attempting not to drink this swing - was doing so well too! haha Well worth it though, go Dogs!

Well done Doggies. Addison was on fire. Big Wil was terrific as usual. Can't wait to watch it again. Watched the game at one of the Footscray watering holes (not too many left these days) and would like to see the replay with a clear head Been a shit of a week, so something's gone right for a change! Be a bit different when we get the likes of Cooney and Higgins back - more options than just Murphy to deliver from the backline. But I agree, there is still work to do there... Macrae looked quite good bringing the ball out of defence though.
