Rat set up four ****ing goals. There was once where his opponent burned him in the middle of the ground, and one or two important one on ones that he was outbodied on. Zurhaar also fluffed more than one opportunity.

Ziebell was flopping for free kicks all game, which I hate coming back to but he plays much better when he runs this out of his game. Polec, as staunchly defensive as I have been of him, pulled out of a crucial contest in Essendon's defence.

Macmillan did some good things, and some awful. He bravely came off his man a few times and impacted crucial contests, but then he pulled out of one, and then had some Benny Hill shit. Weird game from him.

Don’t care what anyone says but Hrovat is a liability and should never play again.
Macmillan too was putrid and his best is well behind him. Get games into Murphy once fit.
Playing Taylor was a mistake, Hosie would have been a better option as he is more developed and may have provided a better target up forward.
Goldy, harden the f**k up and for once in your life assert yourself on the contest and take a contested mark.

People harping on about Macmillan and Hrovat might want to stand back and think about where we lost the game today: we were annihilated in the midfield. Absolutely annihilated.

Centre clearances: 15 - 8 against
clearances: 44 - 32 against
Top 4 midfielders’ possessions: 98 - 74 against

That’s an extra midfielder and that’s the ball game right there.

Spot on Egg Head. In essence it is why we lost the game. The other stat to mention is the Tackle Count of 73 to 52. Essendon out tackled us. In addition we gave them the corridor a little too much for my liking. :stern look

As for JMac and Rat well they have their flaws. JMac is a bit of a turnstile tackler. His defensive efforts aren't the best. Hey there was one piece of play where I thought he was fantastic with his attack on the Football. But there are other times when he just doesn't body line the player or the ball. I would like him tried on the wing. Something different for him. As for Rat well yeah he had "4 Goal Assists". Shit a 41 year old Brent Harvey would have had "4 Goal Assists" today. He wasn't our worst. But what is his upside? I don't see it. I would be moving him in at the end of the season. :stern look

This is my feel also.

We need a full preseason training aethod to go with the hardness.

Interested to see how we respond on the road against a top 4 side.

We're fine for top end attacking talent, probably have the best under 22 forwards in the league.

We need LDU to continue to develop and Simpkin too. Ahern needs to run all pre season.

Tarrant masks some defensive issues. We need another ELITE defender, not KPD but someone more like Nick Haynes.

A marking defender who squashes a medium and can even play small with ultra cool composure and a lethal kick.

I really wouldn't be against running Tarryn there for a few years. Seriously, he could tear things apart on half back with his skill set.

Marley was brilliant tonight but we don't have two of him.

If we had stayed down the line we would have won. It was Atleys hack kick to the middle of the ground that opened us up the other side. The very best teams would have played it exactly like we did, make no mistake as long as that ball was hugging the boundary we weren’t losing. Go down the line and keep it tight, if you mark one of those kicks it’s game over, hell the Pies played it exactly like that last night..except they weren’t foolish to hack it to the middle.
