They will absolutely get hammered next week in Adelaide. The let down after that is going to be drastic.
Thats the shit thing. Whoever won today was almost guaranteed to come crashing down to earth next week.
Wonder is the reverse happens for us as we get Brisbane with two weeks on the road?

Just watched the whole the replay. The whinging about the umpiring is way over the top- Essendon had a better run than we did but nowhere near as bad as people r making out.
McMillan missed one bad tackle in the first quarter on stringer who kicked a goal. Apart from that he had a solid game and will def play next week!
Cunnington has about 3 touches after half time and all the whinging in here about how the tagger played is over the top. I found it hard to find any free kicks missed too him.
So in A nutshell everyone on here whinges too much!

Pretty sure a/ you watched the wrong replay and b/ have posted in the wrong thread

Hrovat was fine

More concerned with Macmillan and Ahern

Taylor was the wrong decision, he is not ready
The game highlighted why we likely won’t play finals. Small and mid defenders are below average and midfield a fair way off the the best in the comp, way too reliant on cunners
These have been Achilles heels for a decade

Anyone who needs needs surgery they should be put on ice now or the next couple of weeks. We need to somehow build some depth and we are thread bare at the moment. Would help if we had some luck with Jacobs and Walker 😞 these two hurt. Along with Daw..
Jacobs would be huge in our midfield. Such a shame

Didn’t have a clear winner in the midfield all game. Ahern a step behind the play and not showing enough intent at the moment. Thought he’d come back into the team with a point to prove but he is looking hesitant to attack the contest.

Zurhaar almost got us the win by taking out Hurley..then McDonald did his ankle and the defence went out of whack just for those last minutes.

I don’t think we were as hard as a unit today as we have been although we weren’t soft by any measure. Disappointed in a few efforts. Let a few crucial tackles slip. Polec opting out of a marking contest in the 2nd or 3rd Q allowing a 2 on 1 in the backline. Taylor not ready for the physicality just yet, couldn’t get himself into the game at all.

Marley, Tarrant, Zurhaar and obviously Brown our best. I guess in the end we just ain’t Hollywood enough for Razor Ray the slimy pube who was trying to crowd please as usual.

Jacobs
Walker
Daw
Higgins
EVW
Garner
A team with all these guys in at the same time would be awesome!

Can I say something though. If its between Tarrant, Scooter or Jamie as to who is the backline general down there then I can see why we were all at sea today.
One voice. One leader. Everyone else follow. The amount of broken tackles inside defensive 50 compared to the last 5 games was inexcusable. What the hell happened? The clearance kick into the middle by Atley? Long bomb by Macmillan?

The last play Marley leaves AMT to pick up Fantasia and is nowhere near him as Tarrant tries to drop back loose again as he had been to win us the game. The mix up resulted in Fantasia getting to the fall of the ball after Cunnington tried to mark it and Jy ending up on AMT which was a disaster and he kicked the sealer.

What the **** happened? Why did Marley lose Fantasia. Why did Jy have to drop back?
Costly, costly error in our defensive structures that had been a rarity under Shaw.

They're good at running, and run they did.
The pace they have at half back is mighty impressive and they sure know how to use it. Really sets them up. We have Ats I guess but would be good to have someone with some serious wheels on the other side once Higgins comes back. Maybe Polec or Hall could go back there?

I thought that was Polec's best game for us today. He has a sublime kick on him. Man I wish he did better with that shot from the boundary in the last, he's been very good at them. Added some hardness the last few weeks, he's bought in.

Poley was great. He came to us with the polish, and now we're infusing the Shinboner. There was a little passage in the 1st where he took possession and then did an extra little angry fend-off for good measure, and I loved it. It was shades of that time Maj got angry and did the uncharacteristic lash-out. I also thought his last Quarter repeat efforts really stood out.

Speaking of Maj, how great is it that we've now got a Forward line with enough mix to it that we'll no longer have to rely on swinging him up there when he comes back? We can just slot him down back and let him clunk intercept marks all day long. Him and Taz, in stereo!

Ben Brown is an elite athlete. Nice to hear the commentators talk that up all night long, instead of making tired jokes about his run-ups. Thanks for noticing, you idiots. Not sure what more BBB has to do to get people to notice just how freaking hard he works out there for all 4 Quarters, and consistently, but he was BOG last night by a country mile, and geez it was great to see him with the old BBB marking hands all night, and flying up for the ball. On top of all the other stuff he gets done.

Also speaking of commentators, thank you to Marley for keeping Fantasia out of the game so that they couldn't wail out his name. It was hard enough dealing with all the fawning over Stringer. God, what a nauseating part of the night.

The Rat was good. He wasn't Wood, but he was in good Rat form, and played his role.

Young Curtis cracked in. The kid has no fear. Ran his guts out to get to contests, not afraid put his body on the line. He fits.

Am worried about Larkey's heart, even though they're downplaying it. Please be okay Larks.

Anyways, up yours *scum. We'll get you next year.

I haven't seen the game, only listened on the radio, but that's as angry as I've been after a loss in a long while.

My poor 15 month old daughter was looking at me a bit scared, had to reassure her that this is just how daddy usually reacts after a close game we should have won. I guess in her 15 months, she had got used to me accepting defeat and mediocrity and not caring.

So it's really nice to have that passion back and I hope I can instill it in her too. Still f****n sucks though.

+1 for Shaw’s resume.

  • Able to communicate instructions clearly and directly. Strong ability to lift the team after 3 qtr rally.
The players respond to Shaw. As much as I wanted to beat the scum last night *spits on ground* I see so much promise moving forward.

Ahern was good today. JMac and Hrovat were poor selection moves from Shaw. In fact our game plan was very Scotts-like with the over handball today and lack of tackling pressure. Probably Shaw's worst coaching performance.
Sorry what?!?
Ahern was good today?? What game did you watch?

Compare his stats with Hrovat (a defensive forward) and it gets even more bizarre.

There's a lot of very lazy thinking going on, and by people who are usually much better posters.

Agreed, but it was more than just stats. The eye test simply said that we had 22 players that worked their asses off and one who did not. Curtis Taylor didn’t have a good game, but his effort was there, Luke got some goals kicked in him but man he tries hard every contest. I agree with your Hrovat call, he was actually pretty good.. set up goals and worked hard. He made one mistake in the last that felt costly at the time, but at least he was there to make the mistake. I would drop Ahern for LDU, Taylor for Wood, and obviously Luke goes out, and why not give Crocker a game??

As usual to much is left to , to few.

I’ll leave the kids out of it turner unsighted again , Jed is a hardass but he plays midfield and needs to get the ball more , Jack is similar to Jed and don’t think we’ll get anywhere with these guys in the team.
Goldy is a letdown in so many games where he is expected to dominate
Lmac and Jmac can’t defend and that’d be ok if they were great creators off half back but they aren’t.

Really need to delist or trade out the guys the continually let the club down.
Doing the same thing over n over an expecting a different outcome is a sign of insanity

Again here is one of those blind ones Who continually make excuses for turnstiles Macmillan

Credit to you, it’s a hard task

Didn't you post that he was a good player?

Need me to dig up that quote again?

In 2010 lol

Didn’t take him long to prove me wrong

It takes the average person about 3 seconds to prove you wrong.

You're a prime reason that players think this place is populated with little more than f***wits.
