Seems to me it is time for Durdin to take the second tall. Thompson can take the next most dangerous forward. He could have had AMT yesterday and he shouldn't be playing on power forwards.

Just watched the replay. I love what Polec brings, and have defended him this year. But there were several inexcusable moments.

4 and a half minutes left on the clock. Simpkin has the ball in between our forward flank and wing. He's looking for options inside 50. Ben Brown looming as the target, so Essendon players flock to him.

Polec, standing on his own 40m out from goal directly in front, with no Essendon player in front of him or within 15m either side, TURNS HIS BACK on Simpkin and just walks towards the goals. Didn't present an option. Didn't call for the ball to either hit up at Jy or at the least draw an opponent from Brown. Turned his bloody back to the ball carrier and just slowly walked towards goal.

Theoretically, Jared hits up at Jy and then kicks the goal - we are up by 8 points then and Essendon are no chance of winning it.

Couldn't believe my eyes watching it. I didn't notice it at the ground.

Even when Tarrant had the ball with a minute left, he looked for the possession game, but no one presented. So he bombed it wide.

They could have buried us in the second and third and we missed some sodas in the final. It was bloody hard to watch us lose to a team like that. Just on the umps, I think all any fan wants is consistency, if they are crap then both teams get the rub of the green, but in our case, a few trips, at least one out of the full and the non high free to Curtis Taylor with minutes left was infuriating.

Didn't Rancey get fined for staging/flopping/exaggerating slight contact for a free kick ? there is your precedent right there, Merrett gave a perfect impression of being hit flush on the jaw with a full blooded uppercut, but Cunners fist only touched the ball in his hands, a blight on the game and needs to be addressed.

Some arse clowns in the media trying to get Ben rubbed out for that hit. I only hope the ball is okay. Seemed to play the rest of the game out okay but could have been late-onset concussion. Medical report might be the deciding factor.

I feel if we had slowed it down and one of our players had faked a cramp, etc...

Elevating Macmillan off a s**t game was a coaching blunder. The whole backline was restructured to fit him in and Scooter/Pittard were both worse off.

Agreed. Pittard has been brilliant this year and the balance of defence seems much better with the extra tall. I'm not a JMac hater but his days in defence seem over. He's depth for a wing position at best. Its a good thing really and shows how our list has improved. I'd be keen to see McKay given a go so Scooter can play small and offer rebound. I was tearing my hair out with LMac earlier in the season butt he's turned things around a bit in recent weeks. At lest he can defend one on one.

Definitely. Your coaching group should have known that Fantasia wasn't a threat - he is barely getting on the field at the moment and has averaged 7 possessions and 0.5 goals in the last month. He can't run, and that's his weapon.
Your best small defender should have been on Tippa, if not at the start, as soon as he started being a threat.

I have had an epiphany about this thread and the game, for most of us on here it hasn't been about winning or losing this match or how well or how badly we played, it has been all about beating * nothing else really mattered to us.

So from that perspective we played well in terms of where we are at as a team and Shaw is still shaping up as a better coach than Brad And both the team and the coach will be better from this experience.

And I really cannot wait to beat the scum * by any means necessary.

That was mind bogling, and incredible. Was right there on level 2 and watched it unfold
Nobody and I mean nobody knew what polec was doing including jy himself .

Polec is pure elite. Worth every cent.

I reread your post and clearly I misread the play in reference.
Polec in the last lining up for goals, 50 out and turns an arch and nails Simpkin in the forward pocket.
