East Perth looking to return to East Perth next year apparently, very unhappy at Leederville and wants to go to the WACA - Subi as well apparently.

Heard via basil this morning on 6pr

http://www.eastperthfc.com.au/news/11588/club-statement-on-6pr-report

The Club is aware of a report on 6PR yesterday suggesting it is seeking to play home games at the WACA as early as next year.

There is no truth to the report. The Club has no plans at this time to move.

Anyone who suggests that the WACA be sold don't fully understand the situation. The WACA owns the land the WACA is on. While the debate on where international cricket should be played in Perth is a legitimate one it ignores the fact that the WACA will always be the home for cricket's administration in this state and the home for the Warriors.

WAFC on the other hand don't have a natural home. While they have a long lease on Subi they ultimately don't own it or the land it sits on. There is zero reason for them to stay at Subi other than for heritage reasons. Any move of their administration base to another WAFL ground will undoubtedly require Government funds to turn whatever suburban dump they go to into a first class facility. The logical decision is to kill two birds with one stone, have the WACA and WAFC share the same administration base and same sporting facilities.

Why do the WAFC need to be based at a footy ground? All they need is some office space. Are they still based in that building down the road from Subi Oval? No reason why they can't stay there.

The WAFC havent been based at the old (Freemasons?) building up the road from Subiaco Oval since 1999 when the offices at Subiaco Oval were built under the new city end stand.

Freemasons still own it ?

Does anyone actually know one these days ?

Jeez, really? Shows how long it's been since I cared about it.

But is there any reason why they need to be based at a footy ground?

I worked with one about 25 years ago. Really nice guy and he took my piss taking about him being The Grand Poobah really well.

so thats a no?

sorry I got scorchers tickets for tonight as a Xmas present and am just trying to plan ahead
Regardless of if there is shelter there (there isn't) you'll be facing west so will cop the full force of the sun in your face for pretty much all of the first innings.

cheers , thanks for the info appreciated, game doesnt start til 6.15 pm so hopefully wont be too bad

Might have been the last game at the furnace for the Scorchers

I'd imagine the general consensus for just about everyone at the game would be '* this place right off'.

Special mention to all those in the scoreboard stand who would have seen their body temperature hit at least 50.
