New year, new thread.

The fixtures were released in December.

Here is the TV schedule:

Can't find a link to the fixtures, but they can be downloaded from here: http://www.wafootball.com.au/news/9676/2016-mcdonalds-wafl-fixtures-finalised

East Perth kicks off at home against Claremont on 19 March, the week before the Eagles start their season.

East Perth also have a bye when the Eagles have their bye in round 14.

If you take out our best 25, maybe this is how EP will look early on (would need a pretty good injury scenario):

FB: EP Barrass EP
HB: Bennell Brown Nelson
C: Lucas Colledge EP
HF: EP Lamb Karpany
FF: EP McInnes Tunbridge

R: Giles EP EP

I: Brophy Adamson McGinnity Partington

Seconds:
- Cole (HBF)
- Snadden (wing)
- Mutimer (wing/HBF)
- Allen (FF)

Injured: Waterman Cavka

That's 15 playing league. Likely to have a couple more injuries and around 12 suiting up.

Spencer White

Scared now?

Clint Jones

Oh, is that a shaking of the knees?

Angus Graham

Here, have a tissue for those sweet, salty tears.

Not to mention a midfield containing Sandover Medallist Aidan Tropiano, the rising Liam McKenna, the returning Julian Jacobs and the flashy Kristian Cary.

Brace yourself, bitches. It's Perth's year.

Last year there seemed to be an 11-11 agrement regardless of form. Be interesting to see if that continues with the new coach.

3 televised EP games?! Poor effort Ch 7.
East Perth rate pretty poorly outside of blockbuster games.

In 2015, they were 3rd in TV ratings, but they also had the;
- Opening game of the season
- The only Friday night televised game
- The East Perth vs Peel "derby"

If the blockbusters were removed for ALL teams, such as the above and WA Day derby, they would be dead last* in the ratings and by some margin.

In 2016, East Perth will still retain;
- The only Friday night televised game
- The East Perth vs Peel "derby"

So it looks to me that C7 have decided to keep the high rating, special, East Perth games and ditch the low rating regular games. Of course, perhaps conflicts with Eagles games may have played a role, but that's what happens when you compromise your supporter base.

Perth and Peel have a much more reasonable gripe.
- Perth (4th in average and 1st minus blockbusters) but will only be televised 3 times in 2016 (T7)
- Peel (2nd in average and 3rd minus blockbuster) but will only be televised 2 times in 2016 (T9)

*West Perth excluded

That is a pretty poor analysis of the ratings figures.

East Perth has always been one of the highest rated teams on TV. Last year they were third but only less than 1 ratings point behind the top placed East Fremantle (who also had the openeing game and a real derby televised). East Perth also had half their televised regular season games in 2015 against two teams that have been in the bottom 3 rated teams each of the last fives years in Subiaco and Swan Districts.

If games were 7 picked games on teams that rated highest then Subiaco, Swans and slightly lesser extent South Fremantle would not be the three teams with the most televised games in 2016.

I accounted for EF's blockbuster fixtures in the calculations.

Forgetting the blockbuster fixtures, which EP rate very well in and will largely retain, they had 3 other games televised. 1 vs Subiaco, 1 vs Peel and 1 vs Swans, all very competent teams (Swans being the worst and only missed the finals by percentage and finished 1 win behind EP).

Of those three games, it was the worst rated Subiaco and Peel games. It ranked 3/5 for Swans.

Taking this conversation in a completely different direction for a second. Do you think there will eventually be a national reserves competition? And if so, what do you think that would mean for WAFL?

It won't affect the WAFL to any real degree. Nobody watches reserves pretty well across every sport.

shouldnt affect the WAFL if the the side is topped up with with the best Amateur players in the country/wafl reserves players and maybe 1 or 2 WAFL/SANFL/VFL players. Might even work in their favour as young Amateur players/WAFL reserves players will develop and flourish under the guidance of AFL standard coaching and hence provide them with new avenue for talent.

I'm assuming Brendan Lee's ban extends to WAFL? Big blow for East Perth if true.

Also will impact Peel (Jetta) and South Freo (Dell'Olio).
Yep, includes all leagues including amateur leagues around Australia, cannot play or coach.

All three can't play, coach or even watch any organised sport at all including social sport like indoor cricket or mixed netball.
