So with a final Eagles list of 46 now complete and Naitanui the only LTI we have a squad of 45. So even with a named 25 there's 20 players left over which means probably about 6 players running out with the reserves.

Those most likely to be spending time in the twos are :

Bayok - last player on the list and there by virtue of being eligible as a cat b rookie. Will be up against it early on

Brophy - with the recruitment of Rotham and Gorter he's got competition for a half back spot

Rotham - as above he'll be competing with brophy for a spot as a half back. His slight frame may count against him as well

McInnes - assuming a fit Lycett, only one of giles or Vardy will be playing in the seniors leaving the other to play with Petrie at East Perth sharing ruck and forward duties

Snadden - didn't get a lot of league opportunities last year and didn't do much with the ones he did. Will need very form in the ressies to push his case

Mutimer - see Snadden although his form in the league side was stronger than snadden

Allen/Waterman - there's not room for these two and lamb in EP's forward line so they're competing for one spot even though Allen is closer to a KPF and Waterman a 3rd tall. If lamb puts in some of the same shit as last year then he'll be under pressure if these two are performing better

Tunbridge- I doubt the club are going to be too patient with him anymore. He should actually be pushing for an Eagles spot so if he's not putting in at WAFL level he'll find himself playing reserves, especially if others are knocking down the door

Venables - I've only got him here because if his foot injury needs management over the preseason I think they'll be conservative and bring him on through the reserves

Gorter - most likely he'll be the second KPD behind Mckenzie so I think he'll being playing league but if his form tapers won't perhaps be persevered with for as long as others might

The others should hang their head in shame if they can't maintain a standard for WAFL league when they should be looking to play at a level that puts pressure on those in the seniors

Summed it up perfectly.

Bayok, Rotham and Waterman will start in the reserves, possibly Venables as well. Jaymie Graham was very lenient on Lamb and it will be interesting to see if Luke Webster forgives him for giving up mid game, Matthew Allan could take his spot. Snadden will need a great pre season to start in the league. Brophy is a different style of player to Gorter and they played together for half of last season so both should be safe.

Will have to wait and see if Webster runs with the unofficial 11-11 rule that Brain Dawson used.

I really want to see Allen developed as the the teams KF, even if that means in the reserves.
Considering he spent most of his junior years juggling footy and cricket, he might benefit from the Royals using him as their no 1 forward. He's raw but has upside for sure. Could be a great contributor as Kennedy gets older especially as we don't really have any other developing KPFs on our list.

With waterman ,Petrie, vardy and McInnes in the forward line hopefully lamb will be used up the ground more,he isn't going to make it in the eagles team as a forward alone

Didn't really know where to put this as it is about our academy and there doesn't appear to be a thread. Just watched the video on our site, the Selwood interview, and there is a fella running about in a game there, number 22, who has class written all over him.
Sign him up now!

They're not really solving the problem as I see it which is the alignment clubs bringing back players into WAFL finals once the AFL side is no longer playing. A 15 player limit doesn't stop someone like Connor Blakely being brought in when over two thirds of his games in 2016 were in the AFL - the player that gets cut is the Fremantle listed player that probably has played all year for Peel - the guy that should actually be playing.

A five game limit is fine because it allows for a player who has missed a lot of games through injury to play but rather than put a 15 player limit in they should look at making ineligible players who have played more AFL games than WAFL games or put a ceiling on how many AFL games can be played and still remain eligible for WAFL finals

Rule change means nothing to the West Coast/East Perth alignment. They've never played more than 15 Eagles in the East Perth league team anyway.

It's a stop gap rule change while a much bigger change gets sorted out.

Unsure if this is a complete list of the rounds the Royals will be live on 7, but its a start:

Round 1 v Peel
Round 2 v West Perth
Round 7 v Peel
Round 11 v West Perth

matt_bas will be upset, he'll only be able to watch Masten on tv 4 times in 2017 if that's the case
But I go to all the Eagle home games and watch the away ones on TV.

If you read his post again he was referring to the WAFL. That's where that spud Cole will be playing.
