I don't take much out of games when the conditions are as bad as they were today. Just rolling mauls all over the ground. No real clean possession once the balls got wet.

In saying that I did take one thing from this game. I can't remember the last time I saw with such clean touch in the wet as I did today from Duggan. Wirrpanda like wet weather touch.

I agree they have been a joke all year. I think East Perth must get the canteen ladies to do the votes.
Best players on the WAFL website for most teams are the coaches awards for the game. A player might get 30 touches on a wing but if he goes no where near his opponent who got 40 then he doesn't deserve to be in the best players (not saying this happened today).

Well that solves the question of who did the best players for east perth
Liam's Mum, obviously.
The 6 frees against irks me. No umpire love, so clearly his Mother was not umpiring, nor his Father..

Redden definitely back next week so underperform tomorrow in the seniors at your risk.

They are the best players on the team lists submitted to the WAFL after each game by the team managers. Some team managers might put who they think were the best players but they are in all team meetings before and after the game and hear who the coach singles out.

Far more accurate than the best players in the paper.

So someone that gets 12 disposals and gives away 6 frees deserves to be best on field? No way.

I assume that Gyrados is being played on a wing these days as opposed to the failed small forward experiment?

He might not ever translate as an AFL player but I hope he can reach his potential in footy either way

Redden was singled out by the coach after the game.Clearly best for East Perth.

Any thoughts on karps game?

Bennell cooked ? .. Also, why did we not put Johnson on our list for a year as a 3rd ruck and not dick around with Giles?
Yes thought the same thing when I found out that WCE had picked up Giles. Mind boggling to say the least, unless Johnson was not interested of course. Another question, was Johnson eligible to be able to get picked?

It's a fair point

I'd back Johnson to have more of an impact than Giles
It really isn't a fair point.

As mentioned, Johnson is 32, Giles is 28.

Giles has also been a superior player at AFL level - Johnson was pretty rubbish.

Absolute no brainer of a decision. Drafting a 32 year old who was a mediocre AFL player and hasn't played at the level for 5 years is absurd.

You could question why we don't have Darcy Cameron on our list but I see him as additional to Giles, not a replacement. We're in a window, Giles is insurance. If we lost Nic and Lycett at the business end, we'd be wanting a mature and experienced ruckman over a raw kid.

Further, at WAFL level this year;
Johnson
13 Games
14.3 Disposals
3.1 Marks
0.2 Goals
0.2 Behinds
2.2 Tackles
22.5 Hitouts

Giles
13 Games
10 Disposals
3.1 Marks
1.2 Goals
0.8 Behinds
3.6 Tackles
25.2 Hitouts

This last bit is so correct. Feels like lately we hardly ever get to see our young kids develop at the same rate that other sides do.

Yeah I generally feel the same too

Hopefully Karps has turned a corner - I have always thought is has been an issue with his confidence and potentially off field issues (homesickness?) so maybe he has got on top of that and playing good footy will perpetuate that further.

Adamson seems to have played a good game, anyone confirm? Why do I have a feeling that the club does not seem to rate him that highly.

Yes, I don't take a lot out of games in those atrocious conditions either Barney44, because structures can't be followed and adhered to.
Having said that I thought Karpany and Redden were the most influential players. I had to keep checking my record for who number 1 was, just to make sure. Bennell's bags are packed already, I reckon.
