McGovernDo those complaining about picking a tall forward instead of an inside mid not realise the list is in more need of a backup tall forward than any other position? There is no one even close to being able to step up if Kennedy or Darling go down. On recent form the best option is another ruckman in Giles. Allen is raw, not ready and really should be playing WAFL reserves. Lamb is OK when he wants to be but most of time just rocks up and goes home. McInnes can't take a mark to save himself. That's it.
My argument was Lamb vs Blakely in the first place.Do those complaining about picking a tall forward instead of an inside mid not realise the list is in more need of a backup tall forward than any other position? You wonder why Freo got him when they have already loaded up on mids.
Apeness, Taberner, Silvagni and Pearce. Stocked for quality talls brah! You wonder why Freo got him when they have already loaded up on mids.

Whilst Freo have taken this a few steps too far, it at least prevents you from falling into the trap of relying on too few to become elite.Because Freo don't draft talls![]()

WCE have shown we can develop very good talls from anywhere in the draft, but I feel like you need a high number of midfielders because most of them won't cut it - and lots of them end up becoming small defenders/forwards.
Our lack of midfield depth is why we have held on to guys like McGinnity for so long.
Now that Barlow/Mundy is declining so quickly, and if Neale were to leave for another team, Freo have a ready made inside mid to slot straight in next year.
If that were us - if Priddis's form drops off a cliff and if for some reason Shuey were to leave the club, we would be relying heavily on Sheed and Redden.
If only there was a Connor Blakely type on the board when we drafted in 2014
We'd have drafted him if he wasn't a turnover merchant.
He's needed down back when the opposition has 3 talls.McGovern
Fyfe's a turnover merchantThat can be fixed.
We fixed Priddis, didn't we?

Didn't say I rated him higher than Sheed at all. What logic are you referring to?By that logic you are rating blakely over sheed? Really? Sheed is well ahead of blakely at this stage of their careers
Yeah but if we lose Kennedy or Darling we can always put Gov forward and bring Barrass or Brown in.He's needed down back when the opposition has 3 talls.
He seems to have some serious case of it. I wouldnt have expected this long. But even before the season began the eagles had written it off for him. Such a shame the kid is a serious footballers footballer, dont know if he could have been class at afl level but he would have dominated the wafl
I guess my only criticism of this point would be that putting an emphasis on drafting midfielders, in order to adress current deficiencies, undermines the broader long-term objective of developing a balanced, well-rounded list. In this sense, their is an opportunity cost associated with drafting - by focussing on one deficiency you ultimately create others down the track.Didn't say I rated him higher than Sheed at all. What logic are you referring to?
Sheed is a year older for starters and has an additional year of development, but that's not the point.
Point is that three good inside mids are better than two.
Yep hasnt been seen at the club for months really worried about him.
Is suffering depression from it.

Dangerfield is no Lethal Leigh either
