Think Gov

He'll drop weight but will he ever be ripped? I wouldn't think so
Gov was a bit chubby but he now he has a dad bod. I think gov can get ripped, he's brother is going to be an Adonis when he's done. I heard the teams personal trainers call Gov "chicken skins" due to his poor diet.

He puts on weight easily like a reverse Tony Notte. It's genetics and if you look at other members of his family you'll see what I mean
I understand Maurice was chubby so was Dean. What I can't understand that in 2017 a professional AFL player can look that chubby. I'm sure if you ask any nutrionist they would agree with me, he's obviously not sticking to the plan the club has put in place for him.

That's a lack of professionalism, I know Gaffy could eat 5 whoppers a day and still be a rake. The thing is Gaff has to work extra hard in the wieght room to maintain strength. Each player has there flaws and working hard to minimise those flaws is what makes a professional.

you can be an amateur and still be a champion - some people just don't want to put in the extra effort (paid or not)

There is a sign on the AIS pool wall - 'everybody wants to be a champion, not everybody wants to do the work required to be a champion'

Eagles look to be coasting. I suggest Priddis may be favoured because he is an example of what is required. Perhaps this is why a few are in the WAFL as well.

So, as Keys predicted, WAFL teams are not happy about Fremantle chasing premierships with Peel.

https://thewest.com.au/sport/freman...sh-another-super-team-in-finals-ng-b88533471z

Peel will be able to unleash another super team in the WAFL finals in search of successive premierships in a scenario that rival clubs have branded as disgraceful.

The premiers are on the brink of having eight Fremantle-listed players with at least 50 games of AFL experience qualified for this year’s finals.

The players named in that article are legit - the likes of Suban, Dawson, Pearce etc have all been playing legitimately in the WAFL

However, the situation with Bennell is bullshit. He was named last week for no other reason than to ensure he gets the five game qualification for finals. They pulled the same stunt last year with Balic and whilst WAFL rules allow it, it's a shameless gaming of the system especially from a club that routinely likes to claim the moral high ground

The five-game minimum rule is there to ensure that the players have actually made a sufficient contribution to the season to justify playing finals.

Allowing them to actually play four games and to hang around in civvies for a fifth game just undermines the whole rule.

Well, if the WAFL is stupid enough to allow the rule that naming is adequate, good luck to Peel. Can't believe the WAFL is stupid enough to deem that as acceptable for a game. Surely they should have to run on to the ground, or be on the interchange bench, for the first siren, for it to count as a game appearance??? Surely???
I take it back. I'm not even remotely surprised that the WAFL is that stupid......

Agree that the WAFL is pretty stupid for allowing the rule to exist but then it takes a certain kind of desperation for a club to take advantage of it

I thought you were going to say it takes a special kind of stupid....and I was about to tell you we might have found that, but alas that is not where you are going. Most clubs (ask me about what some of these guys get up to at junior cricket) would take advantage of it if they could. ;) I don't like Peel and I don't agree with them doing it, but as the governing body you've got to take the bullets out of the gun so it can't be used.

I get that there are some toxic/petty people involved in sport at junior and amateur levels that would bury their own grandmother if it helped their little darlings win but we should be expecting a higher level of professionalism from an AFL club (it's Fremantle pulling the strings here without question) when it comes to these matters

Our admin had/has their own faults but I'd be disappointed if they pulled shit like this

Would Freo prefer Bennell to play finals or to get an early start on his 2018 pre-season? I'd have thought the latter.
They're thinking of the marketing opportunities perhaps

Makes it look like the Bennell gamble has paid off. Gives them something to spruik over the offseason

Bennell leads Peel to another flag. Gets caught snorting lines celebrating with his cousin. Freo are forced to terminate his contract for bringing the game into disrepute

Spruik that

For Freo supporters though that would be equalling their most successful achievement ever unless you rank the losing Grand Final higher

The rule in SA from what I understand is that you must play more SANFL games than AFL games to qualify except when long term injury has taken place, then you must play 7 games for the SANFL club to qualify.
Happy to be corrected if this is not right.

I think the important word there, gws, is played, not being named. I don't have a real issue with them nominating an arbitrary figure, of 5, but they must line up at the first siren, in playing uniform, either on the ground or on the bench. How ludicrous is it that they can just be named?
